While everyone should have a degree of "compassion" for the homeless people in California, I don't beleive it is the responsibility of the Federal Government(we the taxpayer), to step in and bail out the State for a "calamity" they have played an instrumental part in helping create. The Democratic State Government has raised taxes over a period of years under the "guise" of cleaning up the "deplorable" condition that is now overrunning the State. "Taxes" that have been raised have made their way into the hands of "crooked politicians", which in turn has resulted in the current "conditions" which no "State" or "human being" should be "subjected". If the Federal Government has deemed the situation in California warrants "outside" intervention to clean up conditions that are "worse" than one might "expect" in a "Third World Country", there should be some way that the "Courts" should be able to "step in" and redirect how "State monies" should be used to to "correct" what has become an "obscene, repulsive" situation.

I agree. Democratic leadership got them into that mess - they can get themselves out of it. And if they can't, they should step aside and let someone else manage their money, until they can fix the problem. My heart goes out to the homeless, but those people had other choices along the way. They could have left the state.

In the 70's there was a women named Mary (I forgot her last name ) who had severe mental problems. Her family tried to put her in an instition and she did not want to go. The good old ACLU got involved. They fought it all the way to the Supreme Court and got some severe limitations on how one is incarcerated. Now they have to be judged a danger to themselves or someone else.
In a peroid of some 3 years the 2/3 of the inmates were dumped out on the street. Most weere not a danger but just could not function. As soon as the ACLU realized the disaster they caused they said "Blame Regan. It happend on his watch." With frends like these.....
And the drug epidemic added to the problem along with foolish permissive laws amplified the problem!

hospitals and jails discharge to the street. What has happened to us as human beings? The Ivey administration continues these practices where persons with mental illness are discharged to the street. That’s if they have not been sent to prison.

You are way wrong, Ivey or any one person is not responsible for the situation with the mentally ill. You can thanks the US Courts and the ACLU for this mess. It’s been going on since the 6os or 70s. Anyone committed has to go before a judge and be declared insane and a danger. There are millions walking around the streets of America who need mental help in an institution. Yes, the system was abused in the past, but for decades crazy people have walked the streets....now some choose to commit mass murder.

You are so wrong. People coming out of hospitals and jails could easily be served but not when mh budget was cut by 50 million. It’s sad since with adequate funding these folks were and could be served in the community.

Mentally deranged people need to be committed not ‘served” as you so cutely imply. When you’re crazy enough to kill yourself or others, you need to be locked up, not on the streets. Got it?

I said “walking the streets”. You and I walk the streets, dummy. “Walking the streets” means not committed to a mental institution. It means free to rob, rape, and kill. GOT IT!!

So you are saying that people who decide to go on a shooting rampage killing as many people as possible are perfectly sane?

Mass shooters are perfectly sane according to Antifatech - I think most mass shooters(murderers in general) have to have some mental problems to allow them to rationalize killing people as not a problem, and by the time that they have gotten to the point where life is meaningless, so are the laws that they break in committing their crimes.

In Alabama, I can't necessarily blame Ivey. I remember shortly after I moved here, massive funding cuts caused mental treatment facilities to close down. I remember thinking at the time that a mistake that was and what would happen to those people now? Once you are an adult, unless you consent to treatment and have the money or insurance to pay for treatment then you are out of luck. If you do something violent, perhaps the court will find you mentally ill. If you are lucky you may end up in a treatment center, but most likely you will just end up and jail, and then on the street.

is that addressed to WIX or Architect? Based on the weight of posts it surely must be to WIX!! He hold the gold-medal in insults with his post's ''subject'' line alone (take note of the ''subject'' line in WIX's post immediately above)!
No need to answer! POT / KETTLE....GOOSE / GANDER rules this forum!
BTW: Have you noticed WIX has deflected, as is his custom, rather than providing the information requested to prove his insinuation about the homeless who are also mentally challenged?
