Seems like a strange appointment. I bet industry and ranchers are happy.
"President Donald Trump announced late Monday that he intends to nominate a former agrochemical industry official to lead the Department of the Interior’s Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS).
The selection of Aurelia Skipwith, who worked at Monsanto for six years, to head FWS carries on a Trump administration trend of filling top environmental regulatory positions with officials from companies regulated by the agency. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Skipwith’s duties will include enforcing federal wildlife laws, protecting endangered species, managing migratory birds, and conserving and restoring wildlife habitat.
Environmental and conservation groups largely condemned Skipwith’s nomination, noting that she spent the past year and a half at the Interior Department helping to oversee the administration’s dismantling of wildlife and national monument protections.
Skipwith worked for seed and pesticide giant Monsanto from 2006 to 2012, finishing her time at the company in its corporate affairs department."

Thanks for the invitation but I think I am capable of choosing the subjects which I wish to persue.

At 12;27 AM, you shouldn't be so picky. There is nothing else worth discussing. Just trying to be helpful and overcome the animosity you seem to have with those whose opinions differ from yours. You need to accept that differing opinions are healthy in a civilized society.
Now, do you have an opinion to share on the appointment of a Monsanto executive to head the Fish and Wildlife dept?

Goofy, don't you realize that opposition to any person of color is de facto proof of racism. But let's look at her qualifications. She has an M.Sc. in Molecular Genetics and a law degree. Worked as a regulatory affairs person in industry. Seems imminetely more qualified than most that have been in that post. News flash for you. Qualified people move between govt and industry all the time. Unqualified leftists move between govt and lobbying all the time.
It just bugs you that Trump has nominated the first African American to head USFW and that she is so well qualified. Really grates on you doesn't it? Can't wait to see the optics of Democrats mistreating this woman during the confirmation hearing.

Maybe you could say the same about overcoming the animosity about people who have opinions different from yours. Also, remember we endured eight years of Obama making appointments with extremely liberal views that have contributed to much of the division we see in the country today.

The only personnel qualified to head this department are the ones who can provide the solution to that most pressing of issues of what to do if you see endangered widlife eating endangered plantlife. Skipwith knows the answer.
Just as a side note, Mosanto contributed $25,000 to Trump's inaguration. After this nomination, I'm guessing they will double down on his second go around.

Too late to edit, so as not to endure the wrath of the forum spelling police,
“widlife” should be “wildlife”.

You maybe on to something. I guess if she were white like Price, it would be no problem. By the way, what is your buddy Price, who resigned in disgrace, doing these days? Since he is white, I am sure you will support him if he runs again...
Color aside, you seem to have no problem with a former Monsanto executive running Fish and Wildlife. It may even help business in the future....

Dunno about Price and really don't care. He was a good congressman that represented his constituents very well. That he went haywire when he joined the Trump admin is still a mystery to me.
And no, I am not bothered by a former Monsanto employee heading up USFW. I'd rather have that than some leftist, anti-science ideologue in that position. The reality of all these agencies is that the vast majority of the impact comes from unelected bureaucrats that understand that political appointees come and go, administrations change and they will always be there. So some political appointee shakes things up for a while. When the next administration comes in some political appointee can undo whatever it is they don't like. That is the way of the govt world and why I favor limited federal govt and believe in subsidiarity. They have too much power which is why these kind of appointments attract way more attention than they should.
