anyone know when the word will come down on the winter lake level and whether or not they will implement the 3 foot variance?

No word yet.  No indication of when we'll hear.

I saw a leaked copy of the Presidents own second draft of the 2016 SOTU that reads in part -

"The low water is not our enemy, it is simply that there is more ground visible.  We must not point fingers and lay blame, the water is simply searching for its own true level.  Once it has done that; we will all be in a more harmonious world.  Those true Kenyans Americans among us know that given time and opportunity; the water will once again be a proud group of voters.”

Not quite sure what that means, but if it turns out that Bengazi information is found at 480', the rule would be at least 490' year round.

I too have a keen interest in the lake levels and especially the proposed later date of the drawdown. I recently read an article in "Lake" magazine (I believe it was the February issue) that said that we are supposed to hear something this spring. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. It angers me to no end that "Washington" has this much power over this local/state issue. They always think they know what's best for "the people" when in fact, they do not live here, vacation here and have no idea what is best for the Lake Martin community...they DO love to throw their weight around. FYI...in two days, the internet is going to fall under the regulatory strong arm of the FCC (Federal Communications Committee). While it is my belief that little will change with the internet right away, in a few years we will look back on this time and say, "remember when we could........?" I believe this will lead to many taxes associated with the internet, it will silence certain voices, and with little competition and lack of innovation incentive, our internet sppeds will get slower, NOT faster...just my opinion.

Here is the strategy for the FCC takeover of the internet.  They will issue complex and burdensome regulations that firms will be forced to lobby the government for exemptions that will only be granted to firms that toe the Democrat party line.  Service and innovation will die, costs will go up and speeds will go lower.  Other than the military, nothing that government does improves anything.......ever.......

...  and he was against internet regulation, before he was for it, and he was against presidents grabbing power from the congress, till he was for it for himself, and Bush was unpatriotic for raising the debt to 11 trillion, before he raised it to 18 trillion and counting, and if you like your health plan you can keep it, and he was against extremists clinging to their guns and religion till he was for it for Islamic/muslim extremists, and he was for Egypt till Egypt kicked out his muslim brotherhood buddies, and Benghazi was all about a youtube video and not about funneling arms through Libya to his muslim brotherhood buddies AND to the good terrorists fighting Assad in Syria which are now called ISIS,  and there were millions of shovel ready jobs for all that bail out stimulus money, and all those bankrupt “green” companies that got stimulus money are the future, and energy production is up except not on govt lands which have been further restricted, and he will expand off shore drilling if the rinos will wink and nod at illegal immigration, and oil price is down which kills US production, hurts Russia and solidifies Saudi Arabia and Iran’s market share for future huge increases, and fast and furious wasn’t a false flag to try to justify more second amendment restrictions, and, and, and …….

So, yeah, If obama’s for it, I’m aginst it.

I was against it before he was for it and it has nothing to do with TOTUS.

By the way, we are at 483 now, so go out and mark where the new winter low may be.

Already did that as one of my camera's points to the water.  Would love to have winter pool at 483' as it gives me year round water, a better view during the winter and would increase the value of my investment.  Others may be in a different situation but that's mine.

Take it to 450.  I want to see what is down there, take lots of pictures, mark everything with GPS, and fish it when the lake comes back up.

Go get some diving gear and you'll see what is down there.

Or take a time machine back to the 30's and 40's when they pulled it to 440 every year.  Or he could just by one of many maps that has all the underwater structures marked.
