Refererence the post that started on 2/25 titled "Here it comes - copperline". I entered the post on 2/25 @ 5:05 PM. You responded on 2/25 @ 7:46 PM with your rebuttal as to why I was successful in school. I voiced my disagreement with you on 2/26 @ 1:11 AM and requested that you listen to Dr. Carson's speech at the National Prayer Breakfast. You responded on 2/26 @ 6:58 PM that you agreed with everything that Dr. Carson said. I responded to you on 2/26 and asked you the question, "if you agreed with everything Dr. Carson said, how is it that you support President Obama 100%? I have not seen a response to my question! Hope to hear from you soon.

I watched it again to see what I agreed to. I still have the same response. I agree with everything.
I support education and have served without pay as an elected member of a school board. I actually paid my children for their grades rather than give them an allowance. Many people on welfare would like to work. People don't like to live on food stamps. They end up buying processed food to avoid hunger. It is not a healthly lifestyle. People at all economic levels have hope that their children will do better than they did and the key is education. I did not see where Carson said to eliminate Head start.
I support a flat tax without deductions. The fairest may be a value added and a flat tax starting at the income level above the poverty level. Neither party is getting us there.
I support a balanced budget as was achieved under Clinton. However, I support a deficit until the economy fully recovers and the tax base is broad enogh to pay down the debt.
I certainly have no issue if his approach to a medical savings at birth. I have always felt that insurance needs a deductible or co insurance to control costs. As a senior with Medicare, if you have a supplement there is no incentive for you to control costs or physician visits as all your medical bills except drugs are paid 100%. Or, do you have another government insurance paid insurance plan?
As a retired military and educator, are you receiving a government pension, state pension, social security, medicare or tricare at government expense?
Now, tell me why I should be unable to support Carson while voting for Obama? I would like to see our country come together and actually work to solve the issues. This forum is an example where it is my way or no way for many of the posters.

if you are capable of placing this post on this forum, why are you not willing to talk to me person to person? i really do feel there are many ways we agree, yet your steadfast refusal to open a personal dialogue pains me. You have my email address, know who i am, and have my assurance - posted here in black and white - that i would not divulge your identity if that is your desire. i would welcome the opportunity to reverse my previous description of your charater. So email me - i am willing to wipe the slate clean and start over.

You confirmed that you agreed with everything that Dr. Carson said in his speech. That being said, how is it that you agree with everything President Obama is doing which is the direct opposite of what Dr. Carson envisions as what our country needs to recover from the last four years. Your question back to me seemed to suggest that I should feel guilty about benefits that I am receiving. I do receive military retirement which came with my decision to make the military a career,{and I can still remember that my monthly pay as a 2nd Lieutenant was $222.00/month}. No, I do not receive a state pension. Yes, I do receive Social Security which I paid into like everyone else. You mention Medicare and Tricare which is a sore subject with me. As a part of my decision to make the military a career, I was told by our government that I would receive free medical and dental care for life. Quite a shock that I have $1200.00/year and my wife has $1200/year deducted from our Social Security for Medicare Part B. Also, that deductible increases every year. My concern with all the free benefits today is that there is no incentive t o improve ones' well being by joining the workplace. The more babies a young woman has the more in government benefits she receives. The more babies, the greater cost of Medicaid. This turns into a vicious circle that can't be sustained over a long period of time.

Start with his comments on education, what is Carson's position on education and how does it differ from Obama?

You brought up the subject of the benefits I receive, but obviously you didn't have a comeback that you wished to share. Also nothing was said about free benefits that are received by those who show no desire to make a positive contribution to society. As the vicious cycle continues we will eventually reach a point where there are not enough "haves" to support the "have nots". I doubt that will happen in my time, but I shouln't have to think about what it will be like for my grandchildren. At this point, I don't see any need to continue our dialogue about Dr. Carson. I don't believe anyone who honestly compares Dr. Carson's views on the needs of our country sees any similarity to where we are headed under President Obama.

You logic is interesting. You asked me to comment on his speech. I watched it twice, commented, and then asked you to discuss them item by item with me. The first question was simply to discuss education. Suddenly, you decide to close shop and go home.
My question on benefits was simply to establish whch benefits you receive and then to ask if you would be willing to reduce any of them as part of budget reduction? Or, is your position "don't touch my benefits"?
I stand by my comment and explanation that I agree with his speech and still would vote for Obam again given the choices in 2008 and 2012.
