Sorry to say that the Pig has closed its doors for the last time.  Several families now missing an income, some two incomes I believe.  I am sure we can all offer reasons for their demise but I will simply say I will miss them and hope they all manage to land on their feet.

I do wonder however, if we will see subtle increases in prices at Foodland now that their only compitition is gone.  I certainly hope not.

If Foodlands produce gets any worse than it is now, they should pay the customers to haul it away.

    Hate to see anyone loose their job.  Perhaps if they kept the place a little cleaner and the manager didn't smoke in the store they might have had more customers.  Maybe someone else can make a go at it there.

Hate to say it but of the two not so great options I always used Foodland as the store is better than the Piggly Wiggly.....which is a very low bar to meet.

I VISITED FOODLAND DELI LAST SUMMER & ALMOST GOT CARRIED AWAY BY FLIES !! TOLD DEPT MGR & THE COMMENT WAS " YEA THEY ARE A PROBLEM". HAVENT BEEN BACK SINCE

I hate to see any local retailer close ,we are becoming a country of mega chain stores.Foodland is a well run store with friendly personnel .The owner is vested in the community and will only be better with the extra volume to help drive better perishable departments.Sorry to see the Pig go,hope Foodland can absorb some of the staff.

The Pig had some of the best meat around. I guess it will be Parker's in LaFayette, now.

Go over and load up with about a month's worth of steaks, etc.

You are correct. It's interesting to see the posts that immediately attack Foodland but I'll bet they didn't shop the Pig. This is just free enterprise at work. I don't think anyone is surprised at this. Dadeville was fortunate to have 2 grocery stores for such a small population. I would be thankful for Foodland unless you want them to be run out of business. Then you can drive to Alex City.
