This is an interesting outcome but as Hound said, not unexpected given the likely jury pool for the trial.  If I were the govt media I would be very nervous as this is yet another reason why they will have to be very careful about what they say as the bar to avoid a huge settlement is much lower.  Kyle Rittenhouse is applauding right now.....and looking at bigger homes.

But the outcome of this lawsuit only proved one thing, you shouldn't say one thing if you are stupid enough to say you believe another.  That was their downfall.  Has absolutely zero to do with whether there was fraud or whether the Dominion machines could have been hacked or anything else.  It all came down to Fox hosts saying one thing on air and saying the opposite in their text messages and emails, which was stupid on their part and I can assure they won't make that mistake again.  But what they "believed" at the time has zero to do with what really happened. 

Was there election fraud?  Without a doubt and that has been proven many times over.  Would it have changed the outcome of the election?  I don't know for sure because so much evidence has been destroyed but I am 100% convinced and believe that it is possible.  Does that change anything?  Nope, we still have Brandon as President and he is still wreaking havoc on our country and the world.....and it's only gonna get worse.  But hey, no mean tweets, right?

There is/was so much smoke over the "false claims" and "trump appointed judges refusing to hear cases" that the claim of election fraud in the 2020 does not have legs.  I believe it happened but why would no justice authority persue?   Sure, there have been a couple of cases in Arizona and elsewhere but all the late night boxes in Georgia, and "proven" mishaps of the dominion machines, the "control" of voting machines by China....there was so much junk that the truth was scared to come out.

And you gotta know that the 3 trump appointed SC justices would not touch it.

I would guess this one deosn't set a precedent for the lies told about Trump on Russia collusion.  I believe that not only did they believe the lies of the Hillary campaign and DOJ, but they still believe it today despite all evidence to the contrary.  FN's mistake was having said one thing on air while saying another behind the scenes, which came out during discovery and depositions.  And the Judge did not buy their assertion that they were reporting the controversy.  The documentation (text messages, IMs, emails, etc.) indicated that some of them were saying one thing on air while claiming to believe that the fraud didn't change the outcome of the election.

With a jury in Biden's home state of Deleware and a Trump hating judge, 787 million with no admission of wrong doing is a no brainer.  That was paid by Fox's underwriter insurance.  Their (Fox) premiums will rise, but overall, the plaintiff and defense counsel teams made their money with their billable hours and everyone is otherwise happy.  I still say that everything that Fox stated about Dominion is/was true.  

I think with this settlement, Trump knows he has one helluva case against the networks that broadcast the Russia collusion hoax.  He is biding his time.......

I hope you're right and would love to see it but what hosed FN was the hosts saying one thing on air and expressing a different position behind the scenes.  While possibly the case with the fake Russia collusion hoax I think they likely actually believed and still do to this day.  But if not, he deserves a similar if not larger payment.

And I agree that their insurer made this decision in order to limit their losses.  What is interesting is that the settlement included no apology, no admission that their claims were false, nothing.  I can assure you that Dominion was equally happy not to have that aspect adjudicated.  That would have involved expert witnesses and the whole nine yards.  As a wise man once told me, all civil litigation is about money.....and Dominion's willingness to settle without any admissions proves that point.

When I am out and about, I try to listen to a variety of news stations in the car.  Today I was listening to Jake Tapper on CNN.  He was practically demanding that the company demand that Fox make public apology.  I haven't followed this closely, but I understand that this is just the first of 6 lawsuits and that they believe the others will go to trial.  

I thought the guy from the company spoke very well, sayign that they weren't going to demand a public apology, because they felt the judgement spoke for itself.  Tapper kept insisting that Fox needs to tell their viewers that they lied, but I got the impression that the guy from the company didn't think it would change anyone's mind, no matter what was said.  He pointed out that all people have their trusted news sources, even CNN viewers.... well, I think Tapper was going to blow his gasket because he immediately said that all news sources make mistakes sometimes but Fox was perpetuating a lie over ad over.... (as if CNN has never done that).
