Both are quite large.

Yup, they either get stuck on the way up and destroy the pier or float away if you are not there to keep an eye out.

Which begs the question:  "What would be the mating call of a dock?"

Based on research from 2015, the environment acts as an acoustic filter, preferentially absorbing certain frequencies. These acoustical properties set up selection pressures favoring evolution of sound-producing mechanisms capable of forming signals that will propagate efficiently. Even within two floating docks, for example, the sounds of different populations of docks in the Southeastern United States have structural adaptations permitting maximum propagation among the floating docks of Lake Martin.

the mating call of a dock, at least a Lake Martin Dock, sounds like this... Bump..Bumpp..Bumper..Bumpers.. Bumpers..

SCREECH.... Repeat, Bumps....

Mack,

You are cracking me up.  More like.. ring ring ..  "We have people coming over for Memorial day, can we have one of your double decker boats houses before then?"

:)  Glad for the warm weather and water though.
