Being somewhat of an isolationist I am not all that opposed to closing embassys, etc, and getting out of dodge. Not sure what good we do in some places anyway. Most hate us, love our money, but hate us, and will turn in a minute. But, what message does the retreat send to the world? That the USA cannot defend its properties and its people?

Retreat? Embassies are on the sovereign
property of the country represented. This is meant to assure that a country has
a sanctuary from which to promote peaceful dialog in another country. Muslim
nations have demonstrated a particular inability to respect the sovereignty of
foreign embassies of nations whom the religion of Islam deems infidels.
In the civilized world, the host nation honors its role to diligently protect
the embassies of other nations INCLUDING ISLAMIC. It seems that obligation is not returned in
Islamic countries.
Therefore, I recommend that our representation in those (uncivilized) countries
be a single phone in the office of that nation’s supreme leader.

I think we need to protect our people from harm. Look at what Hillary did to those people in Beghazi. This administration doesn't care and won't save anyone if Valerie Jarret says to stand down while SOTUS gets his beauty rest and the ambassador gets sodomized and strangled. I say close them down because otherwise they will be another victim of this scandalous, corrupt administration.
And I like Maj's suggestion about what our profile in these godforsaken Islamofascist countries should be.

I am guessing we have already announced a "Grand Re*opening" date. What is to keep the terrorists from postponing their attacks until that day? Sounds kinda stupid to announce all this in time for them to reschedule.

Some of my thoughts, also. Was this for protection, or for show? Look how great we are at intelligence (well, in claiming we intercepted info. I think we are losing this war because the battlefield is so wide, so diverse, and so unpredictable.
Isolation = stay out of unfriendly countries to me.

Lakngulf, the
only reason we are “losing” this war is because “information deficient” voters
of this country have elected a government which lacks courage and commitment.
Islam views negotiation and compromise as weakness (I know this first hand from
working directly with an Islamic government). I would remind you that the (Arabic) Islamic countries have a few fears:
- Drones
- Cruise missiles
- ELINT
- Satellite and aerial surveillance
- Stealth Technologies, and
- American energy independence (nuclear, natural gas, shale oil, and coal)
The ONLY way
Islam can avoid returning to the economic stone age is to overwhelm their enemies
is by occupying their lands through liberal immigration policies and taking
advantage of timid countries.
…oh… and to
have one them elected president of one of those countries.
