I sure wish they had been more open. It reminds me of the secret meetings Cheney had with the oil companies. Were you bothered by those meetings?

Really, my Mom 35 years ago told me two wrongs don't make a right. I think you need to stop justifying today's egregious behavior based on some fantasy, conspiracy driven, Daily Kos, PMSNBC, Huff n Puff Post rantings. Geez, you can surely do better than that........

That was my thought exactly. It reminds me of a little kid getting in trouble and saying, but mommy Mike did this and that .... like somehow it make his wrong doing ok.
Jellyfish has always been that way ... so sad he can not just be an adult and debate the issues and what he things Obamanation has done right. He has lead the country down a path of destruction and socialism ... now he is getting in to a currency battle with China that is beyond dangerous. But then again ... that may be his plan ... create another crisis right before the election. Rather than focus on creating growth in the US, he is following the dangerous path of protectionism, which we will fail.
As a side ... did you see that 47 dems in the house sent nancy Pelosi a letter that they want the Bush tax cuts extended for two years and want it brought to the floor to vote before the elections. So much for party unity .... you don't see too many dems in congress wanting Obama to campagin for them. How many dems are running ads on what a great thing they did by forcing socialist healthcare down everyone throat and what the cost is going to be. Nope, same old .... while our policies failed, it is not our fault.
Oh those terrible Bush years of 5% unemployment, and deficits that look like pocket change to Obama.

Under President Bush, the deficit was in its fourth straight decline until FY 2008. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets. Since that time, the deficit has exploded out of control.

We have been waiting (in vain) for the liberal participants in the forum to supply substantive argument and thesis defense. They have not been forthcoming on anything but slogans and condescension. Either they won’t or can’t backup up their positions with facts.
For example, Hound is constantly trashing Sarah Palin. While there are some things about her I would wish to be different, in the main, her experience and position are sound. I have done considerable research on her. For example, the REASON she resigned as governor of Alaska is that she was subjected to sequentially submitted, frivolous lawsuits mostly originating from a single, externally well funded, source. The Alaskan legislature is protected from litigation by State funding… the Governor is not. She spent a crushing amount of time and resources (successfully) defending herself from the lawsuits, but she was running out of money. She had to devote an inappropriate amount of time to lawsuits and she did not feel that Alaskan governance should be held captive.
So, I “called” Hound on her disparagement of Sarah Palin. Rather than place her cards on the table… crickets. What does this say about Hound?

Hound knows a lot about the way our Government works. I spent four years in the five sided Funny Farm and was exposed to it. Doesn't mean it connects with the will of the country, though.
That doesn't mean she knows a lot about mainstream America. And it is mainstream America that should and will prevail. It s just a matter of time. Ours is not a democracy, but is a constitutional republic guided by laws. The majority will prevail only if through the ballot box to elect like-minded representatives who will change the laws of the land.
I like what our forefathers set up...

I'm not a product of the Puzzle Palace. I worked there from 1990-1995. Before that, I worked in the field for the Army. After it, I worked in OUSDP doing technology security. The jobs I held in USDP allowed me to work in close proximity to those I have criticized from the Bush Administration and in DC think tank community.
The reason I won't list all the things that I dislike about Sarah Palin is that she has no positions beyond the Conservative Right Wing. In my mind she is a "personality" not a serious politician. I find amusing the reason you give for her quitting as the Alaska Governor... To my way of thinking, you run for office, you put yourself out in the public domain. You take the office to which you are elected and serve the people, not your own selfish interests. If it were merely the lawsuits, she could have just disappeared, but has she? NO. She's taking the money. She's still putting herself out there. If she were a serious person, she would have stuck it out in Alaska for her term. She's nothing more than a mouthpiece. She doesn't have any ideas of her own. Anything I would say will not persuade you to change your mind about her. I'm hardly alone in my dislike of her. Other than the people who express opinions here, I don't know anyone who thinks that she has something to offer the country.
Mr. Hodja is right. I don't have my finger on the pulse of mainstream America. For most of my adult life I have been blessed to live a comfortable lifestyle. And I'd be the last person to argue that Washington is mainstream; it is pretty far from mainstream. And that's why the politicians are having such a hard time connecting with their constituites. It's just a different world. Most of us don't live by sound bites and the 24 hour news cycle.

Hound, Sarah Palin and contemporary leaders like her have done an outstanding job of re defining "Conservative Right Wing", communicating principles rooted in the framework of our US Constitution to the social and moral values previously embraced. Thank God she is putting herself out there, demonstrating that it is possible for a woman, a conservative woman, a woman who stands with her family, her God, and her people, to attain success at the ballot box, and as a principled, driven elected leader. I'd much rather see Sarah in any leadership position than the politically active women held up as role models by the left. Face it, her ideas are not her own, they are shared by millions of producers. As far as changing any minds about her, my guess is you are not the one as people remember your position regarding our dictator in training pants. His ideas were not his own either, and generally shared and enthusiastically embraced by millions of parasites. Finally, if you can't find anyone that thinks Sarah Palin has something to offer, it may be you that needs to expand your contact list.
|
If Sarah were all that, I could see why you might admire her. But, sorry to say, I think is an opportunist, doing what opportunists do -- she's talented in self promotion. I think there are conservative women who probably are deserving of a lot of credit. But, those are the women who are in the trenches, doing what they do, not continually pushing themselves into the spotlight.

The Sin of Self Promotion

“…talented in self-promotion…” Is that bad? Hmmm… who is good at self-promotion? Obama, Clinton(s), Kerry, Edwards… John F. Kennedy? What is the opposite of “talented in self-promotion?”
If Sarah Palin were not “talented in self-promotion” then, she would not be an effective spokeswoman for the conservative, originalist cause. She becomes more polished every day. Yes, that’s because a) she is gaining experience in the political and media arena, b) she has handlers now who are guiding her, and c) she is connected with the spirit of the heartland.
Do you notice that what Governor Palin has to say is not about her, but about our country.
Sarah Palin is fast becoming the voice of America. She is a successful mother. She is an unabashed Christian woman who practices her faith. Her personal life has (and the private lives of her family have) been laid bare. The smear mongers find she is squeaky clean. She endures unwanted public pain and scrutiny with dignity. She does not dress or speak inappropriately. You can bet she now has a vocal coach who is trying to help her shed her “soccer mom” voice inflections. (Are you going to say that is bad?).
Governor Palin is not cynical. She is positive in the face of our wounded economy and reputation.
You begrudge the fact that she has become wealthy. What then, would you have her do with her fame? In what financial strata did the Clinton’s originate? What part of the American dream do you not understand?
Oh… and the spear that plunges deep into the chests of the liberal witches… Sarah Palin is beautiful and physically fit. Sarah Palin could wear those designer clothes down a runway. If Sarah Palin has a Face Book page, I’ll bet here face is in the avatar (if you are on FB, you know what I mean about this.)
