Wasn't it the Patriot Act that the dems hated and criticized Bush for spying on the american people?

So why did both the senate and house just vote to extend it and Obama said he will sign?

How the same people that opposed it, support it strongly now. Talk about playing party politics, even when it comes to national security. Shameful.

These are the same democrats... the very same... who screamed about the “nuclear option” when Bush threatened to use it to break the impasse over confirmation of his appointees.
The founding fathers encumbered the Senate with parliamentary procedures and checks in order to make it more deliberate. Which of you has not pondered the nature of the filibuster? The House of Representatives can pass bills on simple majority. The Senate cannot without having enough votes to break off persistent debate (filibuster). This is an effective way to keep a simple majority from abusing a minority… and to slow down the passage of onerous legislation.

Where the House of Representatives (representative of the population) may act like a rabble bent on majority rule, the Senate (representative of the states) is expected to behave with decorum. Nancy Pelosi is within her rights to clank around in her steel underwear and be a ditzy devil diva… but, Harry Reid is expected to wear a tie and act like a gentleman.

Presently, they are acting like idiots... contrary to our interests and the states' interests. This implies that they are in default of their constituents' mandate and their Constitutional responsibilities.
