Heard an interesting analysis of the Obama resume that I had not keyed on before. He is what we call in our business and "Two and out" person. What that means is when you look at his resume he changes jobs every two years. While there is sometimes a good explanation it is rare and we almost never hire someone with a two and out resume. They move on every two years either due to incompetence or they are squirrely or a combination of the two. Either way they are not worth the risk.

What makes this interesting is that a number of Dems have been complaining that the Messiah is strangely detached from the process of governing. In his Diane Sawyer interview where he made the comment that he would rather be an effective one-term than a mediocre two termer it was preceded by his comment that he quickly becomes frustrated with the lack of progress and begins to doubt himself. Comports quite well with his resume and this theory doesn't it?

I am not suggesting he will call it quits after one term but if this is correct I do think if his poll numbers continue to erode and it looks like the GOP will gain control of the House and/or Senate making him a truly lame duck President with little ability to control the legislative agenda he will be more likely to call it quits. This is all speculation on my part and that of others so the foam at the mouth liberals can take a deep breath as it could be completely wrong. It is just an interesting observation but the big question if true is where to next? SecGen of the U.N.?

The New York Times just cannot fail to be the New York Times!!!! They just can't help themselves!

-The following is taken from teh above subject article: "Liberated from an urgent need to satisfy constituents, donors and interest groups, largely freed from the shackles of party loyalty and spared attack by the opposition, retirees can vote as they please."

-LIBERATED FROM AN URGENT NEED TO SATISFY CONSTITUENTS..." That says it all. Apparantly teh constituents, i.e., the people who make and send these congressman to DC, are an unpleasent obstacle on teh road to socialism. These leftists just do not understand, or do not like the way teh Constitution has set up teh US government to work!!!!

I'm ten years out of college and just about everyone I know has resumes with job changes every 2-3 years. That's the job market today.

...and low and behold... except for my military service... I averaged two years in each position. BUT, I was twice laid off... and then rehired by the same company. One crook (small business sole owner) surprised us all... we arrived to find the doors locked!

Then, there was that recall where I went to Baghdad for a year.

I wish you had never brought up the two year thing. Now, I question myself. I had always wanted to work for just ONE company all of my life.

I think it depends on the industry type or career choice and there may be some that are more susceptible to changing jobs. I can only tell you in my 25 years in business I have looked at a lot of resumes, interviewed a lot of people and hired a lot of people. Those who are two and out are more often than not out in two years either due to them getting happy feet or not performing as expected. This is a generality of course and as I said in my post there are sometimes legitimate reasons for having that job history but that's the exception rather than the rule in my experience.

Depends on the individual's motivation and sense of loyalty. When I retired from the military I hired on with a defense contractor... and although at times I had doubts whether I would stay, that was over 20 years ago. Bottom line: still with the same company.

Some folks have valid reasons to move on. Others just have wanderlust. The answer usually comes in the pre-hire interview. During that interview it is not hard to separate the ne'er do wells and the nomads from those who separated for a valid reason (e.g., contract expired, got a better job with higher pay, etc.)

That being said, any time we see a resume with a "two and out" pattern we look veerrrryyyy closely before considering a hire
