in 2009! What will the left/liberals say about this? It seems that Americans went on binges buying guns and ammo in 2009. The effect was less murder, less rape, and less property crime per an FBI repot just released.......even in New York! Chalk up one unintended accomplishment for the Dems for which they will not be in a hurry to take credit...........

Of course - even with the crime driver of an economy that is in the dumps. Nothing other than a radical change in the way people think and react will impact a "domestic dispute", so that type situation will continue to happen regardless of the presence of firearms. That is also the most dangerous call for law enforcement officials because so much can change in a matter of seconds. The number of rapes, robberies, home invasions and such would drop like a rock if even more people were armed and prepared to protect themselves and their families. Like the old saying goes – if you are in a lucky area and need help right now, the police are only minutes away. Last week a judge in family court hit here panic button because of rising tensions, in a flash, she had her backup – that flash was 40 minutes.

Yes, the police will arrive ten minutes after the last brass casing rolls under the dresser.

More like ten minutes after "all clear" is heard, and two minutes after Stanley Steamer is called...

Just bought my first guns this year. Grew up with guns but never owned any because I never worried about not being able to get them. Recent events changed all that. Bought a 45 handgun in a private sale and a tactical shotgun with flashlight at a gun show. I almost feel sorry for any SOB that breaks into my house and is greeted by the business end of that gun. Water will fall on the floor....
I plan to buy a couple of rifles and a couple more handguns (9mm and 22) from gun shows and then stock up on ammo.

Congratulations on your purchases, I think you will find the sport to be very enjoyable. I am a follower of the .45, but also enjoy the 9's and 22's. For a rifle - look at the .223/5.56 variety - they are generally very accurate, have very little recoil, and are not that expensive to feed (this is a relative statement - in the past 15 years bullet prices have gone up by a factor of 3). The only problem that you may have with these is the one I encounter - my wife really enjoys them. I had to step up to 7.62's so that I could shoot some....
