There are links to two articles below concerning one man who admitted over 20 breakins recently. Last fall and winter some 37 homes were burglarized by persons identified as gang members from Montgomery.
In an effort to help neighborhoods protect themselves and their homes from thefts and possible confrontation with thieves the Lake Martin HOBOs have joined forces with the Tallapoosa Sheriffs Dept to help areas of the Lake organize Neighborhood Watches. We have started in the Paces Point pennisula and we are organizing each road as an area (such as Wildwood Road, Windy Hill Road, etc). We will work our way to all interested areas of the lake, but we have to have support and assistance of the homeowners.
We need volunteers to help organize and lead each area. If you can help in your area, please email me from this forum, or post on here with contact info. Paces Point Fire Dept. is assisting with our efforts in their area by offering use of their meeting facility, and we hope to partner with other VFDs around the lake for assistance.
Think of the value of a Neighborhood Watch in a time tornados, fires, emergency illness, and theft. We all need to know our neighbors better whether we're full time or weekenders.
