Goofy, most of what you believe are aspects of socialism are actually communism. Your govt school education has once again failed you. Communism is an extreme form of socialism and is more of a philosophy while socialism is more of an economic theory. What they do have in common are three things. One, they never work. Two, they both result in equal misery. Three, they always devolve into tryanny, dictatorship, economic collapse and death when taken to their extremes.
No private property ownership, the state owns all property. Wrong - socialism advocates for collective ownership, commies want govt ownership. Socialism calls for the distribution of profits equally and usually relies of overly progressive taxation to accomplish this goal.
No private ownership of the means of production, the state owns the means of production. Wrong - socialism again calls for collective ownership. The state may not own the means of production but under socialiam it merely controls it through govt regulation and intervention.
you will want for nothing, except to work…” Wrong - socialism only provides for basic needs while communism makes the false claim that it will provide for all needs. In communism you will definetely not be wanting for work, often in gulags and re-education camps. But as for anything more than subsistence for those that are useful to the govt, the rest are starved or killed as the the central government plans fall short as they always do. In socialist societies you can have your basic needs provided by the govt while you are sitting on your butt. By far it's greatest attraction to the parasitic class.....you know the old saying, if you rob Peter to pay Paul you can always count on the support of Paul. This is exactly what deToqueville warned about democratic or republican forms of govt, once people realize they can vote for access to the public treasury it will fall apart. Or as Thatcher cleverly put it, the porblem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money. And finally, Bastiat stated that government is that fiction by which everyone lives at the expense of everyone else.
each according to his ability, each according to his needs…” Wrong - socialism advocates from each according to his ability to each according to his contribution. Yours is communism.
A dictatorship of the Proletariat. Wrong - socialism can exist in any number of political systems, including democratic ones.
You can argue progressive tax is socialism. According to your definition, we are a socialist country with our progressive tax rate. You are covered under government insurance...you must be one of those old white socialists. Wrong - progressive taxation can exist in a capitalist economic system and democratic or replublic forms of political systems as we have seen in the U.S. However, when taken to extremes it destroys economic growth and results in the equal misery described above. And as we have seen over the last 50 years, when you have marginal tax rates at or above 70% the percentage of the overall tax burden carried by the ultra wealthy goes down. That's because they know how to avoid paying that tax. As Cuomo-tose recently said, high marginal tax rates results in the fleeing of the ultra wealthy and a loss of revenue to the treasury.
But otherwise......you got absolutely nothing right.
