As I recall, there was nothing to indicate a "specific threat" on 9/11 either. All I know is, it has been blessfully quiet on the homefront since, with regards to terrorist activity.

A lot of nonspecific but reasonable clear and direct info prior to 9/11 passed on by the Clinton team which was specifically dismissed by the Bush team. Bottom line...9/11 occured on Bush's watch and he at the encouragement of Rove and Cheney he decided to use the attack to make political. They fooled me and a lot of others in '04 but never again. Thanks Sect'y Ridge for telling us a bit of the truth.

"Non-specific but, reasonably clear." What the he!! does that mean? And that Billy sure was a deterrent to terrorism. Shall we list the terrorists attacks on the U.S. on his watch.

You can either sell political books by being a good author (Coulter, Levin, etc #1 NYT best sellers), or else if you are not that good, pimp your book by bashing Bush/Cheney. If this was true, he should have resigned at the time and given the reason for doing so.

-THis is a very frustrating forum. -It doesn't seem like anyone bothered to read the article that HOund provided. -What manipulation? -All the big kahunnas sat around and talked about the pros and cons of raising the threst level. The secdef and Cheny said let's raise it. Others, including Ridge, said lets not. That's how the systm suppose to work. The group came to a consensus that went against the the supposed dark side of SecDef and VP. They went along. So much for the power to manipulate. -Hound asked us what we thought of the article, about that particular situation, and maybe how that particular situation related to a general trend. I continue to fail to understand how some of us can continue to talk without relating our opinions to thefacts.

Actually, I believe it was George Tenet who swore he and some members of their staff tried to get an appointment with the President to talk about disturbing information they had that indicated "something" might be going to happen. But, according to Tenet, they met with Condi Rice, who didn't think it was important enough to bother the President with.
At least that's what he said happened.

Clinton national security transition team members Specifically warned Bush people including Condi Rice that Bin Laden was a direct threat and to keep close tabs on him. They supplied no info on an actual or specific planned operation. Rice and her team dismissed the info and considered North Korea as the most likely threat. This was in the days immediately before and after Bush took office. Just days before 9/11 intellegence reports warned of the possibility that terrorists ahd been taking pilot training and suspected some sort of attack. How do you think all the terrorists were identified so soon after the attack? Intellegence already had them in their sites. Why did Rice fail to act? All this info is available in several excellent books published in the years after the attack. I'm talking sound publications, not the debunked publications that falsly claim Bush knew of or planned the attack.

The two worst domestic attacks on Clinton's watch were Oklahoma City and the First World Trade Center attacks. In both cases the perps were captured, tried and executed or incarcerated. The last time I checked Osama was still on the loose but I'm not worried, why should I be, after all George W isn't either..... "I'm not all that concerned by Bin Laden".

Using the words "Domestic Attacks." I guess the lives of Marines and Navy guys don't count since the attacks were not on American soil. Sweet. '

Don't be such a horses posterior. Of course all innocent lives American military or otherwise are equally important with the lives of U.S. citizens. My point is that where U.S. authority had free reign to investigate, arrest, try and convict they did.
