So Michael Vick is out of jail and has been given the green light to play in the NFL, if he gets an offer from a team.
Is this a good decision? What do you think?

The jury is really still out, as from what I understand the NFL Commissioner put him on a short leash.

Considering his past and the "prince" of a fellow his brother is, I believe his lack of "home training" will make it hard for him to fundamentally change. We can hope, though. A lot of it might depend on whether he was treated like a rock star in prison or like any other felon.

Used to be an avid sports fan, across the board; college, pros, etc. The numerous "strikes," primarily by baseball, ended any interest I had in pro sports. Yes, I'll say it, Michael Vick and his brother are thugs. Just like Pac Man, Terrell, Plaxico, etc. One less vice for me and Sundays have become much more pleasurable. For me, I have one vice left which is college football.....Where all the big money is "under the table."

Vick will be in good company in the NFL. What he did is "child play" when compared to some of the other "stars" of the NFL. I'm in agreement with others that the NFL, NBA, and professional baseball are out of control in salaries, behaviors, and morals.

If I was a GM, I would only consider an initial contract at the NFL minimum and let him return kicks. Minimal investment, little downside, no real game responsibility, and he'd be good at lateraling.

I'm an animal lover, and it's really hard for me to forgive him for what he did. To me, the decision by the NFL says that they don't really care. And I worry what kind of role model Vick is for young people that follow NFL football.

-I never was a Vic fan. I was glad to see that he did not receive special treatment and was convicted and served time for supporting dog fighting. Some estimates say the episode cost him $70 million. So I guess justice is served.
-Now. He paid the price society in general said he should pay. Additionally, that punishment is supposedly designed to rehabilitate him, so we must assume, until proven otherwise, that he is rehabilitated.
-The kid lost two years of his life, $70, 000,000, and whatever reputation for good that he had.
-Like I said, I never was a Vic fan , ...and am not now a Vic fan. BUT, I thnk we should, as the NFL has, give him a chance to prove that the system works. I've had a few second chances, perhaps y'all have too, so........

Well, I agree Vick is a very bad dude, and he paid dearly.. But still, I can't help but think of some of the revered people running this country.. Ted Kennedy comes to mind and he's still playing in the Majors?? What am I missing??

all is forgiven since Ted received a painful 2 month suspended sentence for 'leaving the scene' 40+ years ago for her death as a trusting, young female aide. I know he paid a terrible price for the episode, and is still a the beloved Senior Senator. Vick is a low life for sure, but relatively speaking?? What's wrong with this picture?? Whatever..

At the time all that happened, we were still thinking that Kennedys were like US royalty and therefore untouchable. I really wonder if Vick would have gotten the sentence he did if a/he had been playing for the Redskins and b/they didn't get thousands of signatures from animal lovers. If no one had raised a stink about it, he might have gotten community service and a fine.

You know, there is a part of me that would love to think that Vick has truly been rehabilitated; however, you know he's been coached on exactly what to do and what to say to get his career back. He lost money, but he's young enough to make some of it back. And given his family background, who is going to make sure he doesn't screw up again.

I am an advocate of a strong judicial system. You do the crime you pay the penalty. I am a lover of animals and a supporter of the Humane Society. I detest those who are cruel to animals. They deserve prison, period.

Often, a felon is released and it is very difficult to obtain a decent paying job. They end up back on the street committing new crimes to survive. All Vick is trying to do is go to work. He served his sentence and prison "rehabilitated” him. If the intent of the judicial system was to deny him a job as an NFL player, the sentence would have included that restriction.

Can one truly speak of religion and then deny him a second chance at his choice of employment? I think not. No team has to sign him. No one has to attend a game his team is playing.

did that.. We all agree on that point and I would not go out to have a beer with him, even in the White House.. But back to Ted Kennedy, has he paid his dues? Pretty sure there will be a Ted Kennedy library somewhere??

"All Vick is trying to do is go to work."

How about he goes to work in the NFL making minimum wage. If that were the case I'd be willing to bet he wouldn't be in such a hurry to go back.

Kennedy got away with murder and has never shown any remorse. I remember the incident as the astronauts were heading to the moon for the first landing. She died om July 18, 1969 and they landed two days later on July 20, 1969.

lionized him. If you think it is bad now, just wait until he sucumbs to his brain cancer. The government will probably declare a national day of mourning.
