WASHINGTON – Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan is stepping down after just six months on the job.

President Donald Trump announced McAleenan's departure in a pair of messages posted on Twitter late Friday.

"Kevin McAleenan has done an outstanding job as Acting Secretary of Homeland Security," Trump wrote. "We have worked well together with Border Crossings being way down. Kevin now, after many years in Government, wants to spend more time with his family and go to the private sector."

He added, "Congratulations Kevin, on a job well done! I will be announcing the new Acting Secretary next week. Many wonderful candidates!"

McAleenan was named acting secretary in April, replacing Kirstjen Nielsen, who resigned after a tumultuous relationship with Trump.

As I understand it, he did not establish a trustful relationship with Trump and was likely to be fired anyway.  

Those kind of jobs suck the life out of you and there are no thanks.  He probably got a good offer from the private sector.

Wrong, Archie — somebody had to do it!  Trump is a scrapper and always has been.  And, he’s accomplished wonderful things with jobs & the economy which are Deplorables’ main interest.  They definitely will fight increased taxes and meddlesomeness by “progressives.”  They don’t want to see anybody mess with the good economy and low jobles rate we have in this country now.  Trump’s done more than most presidents ,especially Obama, and all the while fending off unprecedented personal, professional and political attacks.
