You know, you have accused me of having independent thought because occasionally my posts agree with your. Well, I am exercising that sense of independence now. No matter your claims of voting this way or that way, your posts on this forum have roundly criticized anything right and have given the left pass after pass. You are not independent, you are left, and I for one am sick and tired of your childish rants against anything right. Don't bother to answer because as soon as I hit the "post message" button I am hitting the "ignore" button for you. Goodbye.

OCTOBER 8, 2015 Kevin McCarthy Enters Rehab After Admitting Struggles with Nouns, Verbs (Borowitz) WASHINGTON —
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy has entered rehab to deal with his “struggles with nouns and verbs,” an aide to the congressman has confirmed.
According to the aide, McCarthy abruptly dropped out of the race for Speaker of the House because his difficulties with those two parts of speech had “spiralled out of control.”
“There was an intervention, in which people who care about the congressman sat him down and showed him video of himself talking,” the aide said. “He agreed that he needed help, although it took people awhile to realize that’s what he was trying to say.”
A source familiar with McCarthy’s struggles, however, cast doubt on that official story. “It’s not just nouns and verbs,” the source said. “It’s adjectives, adverbs, and pronouns. Kevin’s going to be in rehab for awhile.”
” In a brief statement to reporters, McCarthy offered a blunt assessment of his situation. “It bad,” he said. “But soon it be less badder.”

I think I struck a sore spot with a lot of the loonytunes brigade. I plan to just enjoy the show. Unfortunately, the entire country will suffer thanks to the idiotic T party minority that has hijacked the GOP.
B TW: I know Mr H along with his arrogance will not read this. Apparently they must have failed to read quite a number of my posts if they have NEVER seen me criticize the "left". On more than a few occasions I have roundly criticized what would be considered an issue of the "left". Some on this forum are so far to the extreme right and so blinded by unyielding ideology that they see absolutely anything to their left as an oncoming train even when it is actually reasonable alternative with the backing of everybody else along the spectrum and which would be a good policy. I am MUCH more critical of the right because they have given the nation so much more to be critical of!

LOL, now if you didn't lift that one from The Onion, you really should be writing for them. Very funny.
I honestly didn't realize that the Speaker of the House didn't need to be a member of Congress until last night when speculation began that the House could bring someone like Mitt Romney in to be the Speaker. Wow, a party that has lost agreement about it's own platform such that they can't even find an acceptable candidate... incredible. No sane person would take that job as long as they are assured that the radicals would do everything possible to destroy them in the event of a disagreement. News reports today suggest that McCarthy changed his calculation because of implicit threats to take him down using stories about an alledged affair. He didn't even get far enough to get a vote, and the radicals were ready to character-asassinate him.
So, in keeping with the thread, I'd make a few suggestions of possible candidates for the Speaker's position:
1. Donald Trump. Because he loves to speak. He'd be a great Speaker, just ask him.
2. Sarah Palin: an expert on foreign policy, astute intellectual and darling of the NRA. Besides, she's kinda cute.
3. Bonzo the Chimp: Many people don't realize it, but Ronald Reagan's TV co-star has been waiting in the wings for a while now, feeling that the country didn't take him seriously enough and fell in love with his pretty-boy partner.
4. Ronald Reagan: sure, they'd have to use a bust or a statue... but everyone could unite around his mute effigy and claim that he is on THEIR side. Being dead makes it easy to remain neutral and impervious to asassination.

So now the "Freedom Caucus" is letting it be known that Paul Ryan can't cut the mustard. Paul Ryan is a very conservative member but he is also a pragmatist and in possession of some common sense and willing to admit that governing envolves listening and occasional compromise. He is willing to admit that the very idea of "governing" is not an imoral act. He is not willing to sink the nation in order to remain ideologically pure. In plain English, he is not crazy so therfore unacceptable to the 40 or 50 Jihadists who are holding a loaded gun to the nation's heart.

So which is it Arch?
Is the US going to hell in a handbasket, as a result of the loaded gun in the Republican Jihadists hands,
or,
are "common sense" Democrats you promote and support going to save us all?
I know this is where you cover your bases, but it's fun to watch you spin.....

Comrade, the GOP with a majority does not need the Dems to save the country. Why can't the GOP govern the House with a majority and select a leader? Are they really that inept? Alittle more important than the cutsie questions you asked Arch.

Can you read the English language Comrade? Where did l say anything about "common sense'' Democrats saving us. I said we need to see a ''common sense Republican'' (maybe Paul Ryan) come to save the Republicans and at least minimize the damage to the country. The problem is a small minority of the GOP is not in anyway interested in common sense and are willing to sacriface America and it appears their own party on the alter of ''do it our way or do nothing''. Paul Ryan or whoever needs 218 votes to win. It appears at the moment neither he nor anyone else will get it from the GOP caucus...maybe you are right, perhaps it will take 8 or 10 common sense Democrats (assuming there are still that many around) willing to sacrifice themselves to save the GOP and to bring order from chaos.

I am a Gowdy fan. If he and Greta Van Sustren were in charge we would not have so many crooks in D.C. But they would have a major task ahead of them. I believe they both like to deal with facts.

I did that awhile ago because frankly I don't need to read what he posts. I could simply remove half my brain and write a response and it would be identical. Archie has zero intellectual honesty and no ability to think critically. He is the epitome of liberalism, emotion over facts, logic and reason. the soft bigotry of low expectations for minorities. A loathing of what makes America the greatest country on earth and so on. You cannot penetrate his invincible ignorance. Life on the forum is much better and more intellectually stimulating without reading his drivel.
