Recently a woman came into the business where I work in Auburn & we got into a discussion about Lake Martin. She told me that her parents live near Still Waters & that her dad had some photos of a Monster gator swimming in Lake Martin with a deer in its mouth! The photos were taken by an Alabama forestry guy on fire patrol from a helecopter. She sent them to me & I have no reason to doubt the validity of the photos. Any comments?

I have plenty of comments about this, but all of them would get me forwarded to the FBI site.
Of course, there is a Lake Martin in Louisiana that does have alligators; maybe the picture (if it's real) was taken there?

I have the original message he sent to his daughter. The photos are attached. Why would he lie to his daughter? He lives here like we do.

I've been on this lake for most of my life and have never seen any aligators. I've seen eagles, muskrats, beavers, deer, and almost every other kind of wildlife at the water's edge, but no gators. This is also not your typcial habitat for gators, but I suppose anything's possible. The wife and I have traveled every river in Alabama to a take out point in Mobile with multiple gators along the way, but never here. In fact the most prevelent population we saw was going down the Chatahoochee south of Columbus through Eufaula and on down in to Apalachacola. I can't call the provider of the picture a liar, but I also can't imagine a gator surviving on this lake. Their feeding habits really require a less inhabited area to survive. Keep the faith, but it sure has the appearance of a hoax of some sort????

Someone sent the same picture to me this week but it did not include the location. Believe me, if an alligator that big was in Lake Martin, it would have prop scars all over his back. Didn't notice any in the picture.

I'd like to see this picture, regardless of where it was taken. Post a link to it and let us all see the gator.
