I'm not a Corona panicker.  Haven't stockpiled anything.  But I am wonderig about Alabama and no "reported" cases.  As we know, Alabama does not like any kind of interference by the feds, so what if we have cases but they aren't being reported?  What makes me say thing?  My BIL is in the hospital - his symptoms?  High fever, shortness of breath and illness.  Was told he has a "strain" of the flu, and that he is being hospitalized because of this other medical issues.

How is it that Georgia has cases and Mississippi has cases and Tennessee has cases but we don't?    Anyone have thoughts on this?

I would be surprised if there are 0 cases.  Better chance is that they have not done much testing to verify if flu/cold/covid-19/Death by Trump.

Hope it is not anything serious and he is back home soon.

The question is whether they have testing kits for COVID-19 and have been using them.  As I mentioned previously the geneticist that looked at COVID-19 samples and earlier flu samples found they were genetically the same.  What this means is that this strain has been here for weeks if not months and the "explosion" in "new" cases is actually a matter of them finally testing people with the flu for that specific strain.  Recall that tens of millions have had the flu this season, hundreds of thousands have been hsopitalized and tens of thousands have died.  Probably some decent percentage of those cases were COVID-19, they just didn't know it because they weren't lookinig at it.

So unless they have begun testing specifically for COVID-19 there will be no cases in Alabama.  The reason the cases were found in Georgia is because the two people that went to the hospital with the flu were asked about their recent travel.  When they said they just got back from Italy they tested them for COVID-19 and shazam, we have our first cases.  And because of that they started to test others with the flu and shazam, some of them had it too.

I am telling you now that 6 months or a year from now we will all be looking back at this panic and will be questioning our sanity.

My structural Emfineer just texted that his mother-in-law was tested yesterday after falling ill.  Results positive and she is hospitalized. He, his wife, his 2 kids and all other people she is thought to have been near have been ''asked'' to self quarantine for 2 weeks.  No HOAX Mr President!!

I agree that 6 months from now, we'll wonder what all the panic was about.  In the meantime, my niece is in an OT program and they have been told not to come back to school from Spring Break - all the learning will be done remotely.  But what they haven't figured out is what to do about their clinical requirements which are in hospitals and rehab center.   I did hear today that out of an abudance of caution, Auburn will resort to remote learning now.

On May 2, 2009, the Alabama Department of Public Health confirmed the first case of H1N1 (swine flu) in Madison, Alabama,[121] one of two probable cases previously identified at an elementary school in Madison.[122] As a result, all public schools and most private schools and daycare centers in Madison County, Alabama, including the cities of Huntsville and Madison, closed for two days.[123] After meeting with the state public health officer on May 3, 2009, all Madison city elementary schools were to be closed through May 13, 2009,[124] but were reopened after the CDC updated its guidance to schools.

As of December 5, 2009, the Alabama Department of Public Health reports 2453 confirmed and 36 deaths from swine flu. As of January 9, 2010, Alabama was the only US state reporting widespread A/H1N1 flu activity.

The above info from Wikipedia does not not sound like a state that would suppress health info. I would suggest you check out the swine flu stats to put this coronavirus in perspective.

We've had all kinds of virus - remember SARS, MER, Ebola, Swine, etc.  Either this one is much worse and they are not telling us why or the media got out in front and decided to create a crisis.  Remember the starving people of the Sudan - that started an international humanitarian effort that turned military.  If you consider we are a country of millions of people, and the illness in this country is in the low thousands, it's a total over-reaction.

I suggest you look at what happened in Italy in the 3 weeks between Feb 24 and March 12 to see what might happen in AL between March 13 and April 3 if your attitude is typical!
