Hope Martini can explain why he and the Right now believe deficits are good.......

"The U.S. Treasury Department said government borrowing this year will more than double from 2017 to $1.34 trillion as the Trump administration finances a rising budget deficit.

According to Bloomberg calculations based on the Treasury data, borrowing this year will be the highest since 2010, when America was emerging from recession."

Under dear leader Obama:

Only 25% of the F-18's, which the Marines fly predominantly, could even fly.  Trump has that number now up to 50%

Only 35% of our USArmy brigades could even be deployed.  Trump now has that number up to over 50%

The number of ships in our USNavy is now up to 318, far from Trump's goal of 355, but getting there.

You twits just don't know what kind of America Trump inherited.

These are just a couple of the areas that Obama neglected during his eight years, yet he increased the National Debt over 10 trillion dollars.

Have to be fair and balanced though, under GWB it went from 5-10 Trillion.  Obama 10-20 Trillion.

Would it not have been appropriate to have leadership that would have directed the debate leading up to these midterms that addressed the deficit, Debt/GDP ratio, benefits of the tax cuts, clarification on just who would benefit from the tax cuts, healthcare etc, etc.  Yet all we have talked about is Russian collusion, (which there has been no evidence of) Obstruction (which to this point there has been no evidence of), Melania's Africa wardrobe, invented Kavanaugh accusations without corroberation, stippers and porn stars, Avenatti and Cohen, and so on and so on.  Do the Democrats have solutions to any problems that they blame Trump for?   They certainly have the platform on which to espouse those ideas (MSM) and yet they continue to flounder like a caught blowfish on a Ocean City, Maryland pier.

The WInning Team Speaks

CRD Thanks for the compliment. You do know how to uplift a socialist. Obviously, it is your training....

With the Right having control of the government, they refuse to listen to compromise or suggestions from the Left. During Obama years, Mitch did everything possible to avoid cooperating with Obama. Our country needs new leaders who can actually govern for The People.

This Forum is a microcosim of the country. Civil discourse is history. Weak people, who would never comment in person as they do on the Forum, are emboldened. They live out a fantasy that they are finally important. Too bad, opposing opinions can't just be discussed as opinions.

Cute Fish, I like your acronymic effort.  I would have no problem meeting ANY of my fellow forum members in person for an adult beverage.  I recently said as much.  As far as civil discourse, I assume you are referring to limiting the clawing at the doors of the Supreme Court, or possibly condeming the witholding of the Kavanaugh accusations until the last moment and not bringing them before the whole committee during his hearing, or maybe denouncing the harassment of statesmen like McConnel and Cruz or public servants like Sarah Huckabee Sanders while they are at restaurants dining with their families and/or spouses, or racially slurring Kanye for simply meeting with President Trump.  I have not even mentioned the absurd commentary that comes from CNN or MSNBC.

Admit it, it is your party's radical left that is, in my opinion, preventing civil discourse in America today.  I feel sorry for you because I feel that you are a sensible Democrat, and to quote an article I read recently, you don't know whether to board the Democratic Socialist train or jump off because you don't know if the train will carry you to victory or over a cliff.

Well actually during Obama's 8 years the debt went up by $9 trillion including $600 billion attributable to the last budget of W Bush.  Trump is on track to increase it $11 trillion if, God forbid, he gets 8 years.

I appreciate your wise comments, one of the few l am sure, but I hate to see you describe this forum as a microcosim of the nation!  I think and hope you are wrong, because if you are right the nation is heading hell bent to catastrophe! I do think this forum may well be a microcosim of Trump's base and you are correct that base, in its totality, is no longer interested in discussion or consideration of other opinions, some are even of the mind to outlaw other opinions and a very tiny minority are emboldend to go even further.

As they say in the commercial (Democrats for Republicans?), the Democratic party now is not the Democratic party of the past.  The Democrats want to turn our country into a Nanny state and bankrupt the country.  Can you imagine any Democrat now supporting space exploration or anything to lead our country into the future?  Can you imagine a Democrat saying "Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what you can do for your country"?

I understand that Hilary has said that she might be willing to run in 2020 (hoping no doubt to be drafted by her party), and they have Biden, but realistically, what rabbit will they pull out of the hat and find a real candidate.

Yes Hound, it has been amusing to see the Democratic Party allow itself to be twisted and contorted so easily into something that the likes of Sam Nunn would never recognize.  And to top it off, moderate Dems find themselves caught in no mans land unable to veer right because of their blind hatred of Trump and as a result, selling out to the crazies on their left in the name of party unity.  They are a real mess and in dire need of a young, independent, reasonable voice.

you are changing the subject and ignoring the question as usual...what about the Trump debt?  Next year's deficit will be $1.4 trillion, by far the largest in history and then it gets worse!

CRD have you heard any of Sam Nunn's comments on Donald Trump.  I have and he is not impressed.

You make statements of "facts" without any evidence to back them up.

I know this is another request that will be ignored as was my last request for verifiable evidence of an outrageous and untrue claim, but here goes...please name one single Democrat currently serving in the congress or aspiring to the congress who is advocating in favor of the policies you claim in your post above that the Democrats support.  Name just one and direct me to a verifiable and unbiased source that proves your claim.

I look froward to your response but will not be holding my breath.

By your reasoning(Obama w/Bush's inherited debt) much of it can be attributed to Obama - since we are still paying for his mistakes.

Goofy, this has already been answered.  The increased deficit was a result of higher borrowing costs from prior deficits due to higher interest rates.  If it weren't for Trump the deficit would have been even higher.  But more to the point, please tell us how much of the total debt is a result of Trump, how much is from Obama and how much is from all the other Presidents before them?

We have a spending problem in the federal govt almost entirely because of entitlement programs that were started by Democrats.  Discretionary spending is nothing compared to entitlements.  And idiots like you only want to add to it with your stupid Medicare for all nonsense.  Riddle me this, how much of the federal spending is from entitlement programs?

So no, we don't like deficits and we would like to see federal programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid reformed before they go completely bankrupt.  But the political reality is that any Republican that even dares mentioning this is hammered by Democrats and the govt media complex...but I repeat myself.  Doing what is necessary is political suicide because of your beloved party and their masters in the media.  Until that stops the deficits are going to continue until we have a Greece like collapse.  Being economically illiterate is an ugly thing but repeat posts showing it to the world is even worse.

And don't bother mentioning the tax cuts.  Receipts to the treasury were the highest ever last year.  That's what happens when govt gets out of the way and allows the economic engine to create jobs.  Always has and always will just like tax increases always depress economic activity.

Archie,

Name me one democrat that is on public record in support of Trump.  That was not my point.  His comments on the current state of HIS party would be more interesting.  Jimmah is a lost cause.  You have failed to address the state of our military at the end of Obama's term of office and the spending required to achieve even 50% efficiency.

I am not saying this because I am a deplorable and not to gain favor, but as I have said several times before, in my "opinion", your posts contain the most logical and needed changes to our Federal Government. And I agree, until there is a way to get the Demorats to perform the functions for which the "people" elected them as their "voice" in government, nothing is going to change. I challenge GoneFishin and Architect to list "five" major platforms that their "obstructionist" liberal representatives are promoting in the upcoming midterm elections. I think your position as a "concerned" citizen and a successful businessman have provided you with a background that well qualifies you to make the "input" that is needed to get our Country back on "course". Our present approach to government "of the people, for the people, and by the people" is as you said, leading us to another "Greece". Until liberals are willing to acknowledge the intent of the design of the "three houses" of government as founded by our "forefathers", we are rapidly approaching the end of government that has made the United States of America the" greatest" country in the world. For any of you who disagree, please pack your bags and board a plane to the location that better appeals to you!!!!!!!!!!

It's really just common sense.....something not all that common these days and almost totally absent in left wing nuts.  Remember, for them it's not what actually happens that matters.  Their intentions are all that is important.  That what they believe has never and will never actually work is immaterial.  And when it doesn't work they don't have the critical thinking skills to reexamine their belief system, they just double and triple down on stupid.  Look at Obamacare.  It doesn't work so the answer is never that maybe the federal govt shouldn't be in control of our health care.  Nope, it's that we need more govt control.  You can't fix that kind of stupid.

I can not name one single Democrat that supports Trump because I do not know a single Democrat that is that crazy!  There may be some out there but l sure don't know any!

You imply that the military under Obama had fallen to a dangerous level of unreadiness.  In what way were things in such a crisis state? Give me some examples backed up by unbiased facts.  my answer to your question is that I do not agree the acceleration in military spending was needed but I also believe it is unwise as is now becoming obvious as we approach the largest actual deficits in history and the highest deficits relative to our GDP since WW II. One can spend smart and we can spend stupid and one can levy smart taxes and you can levy stupid taxes...Trump is a genius at the latter in each category!

Now answer my question.  Are you in the least bit disturbed by Trump's deficits (estimated to be $1.4 trillion next year)?  If not, why not?  If yes what do you suggest be done to solve the problem?

I await your thoughtful answers.

One year at about $450 billion, the 2nd lowest deficit since the Clinton years!  The lowest was the year before, an Obama year,

BTW:  I was inaccurate...W Bush's last budget was $1 trillion in arrears, not $600 billion. Bottom line...Obama's total deficits excluding W Bush's last year but including Dear Leader's first year comes to $8.4 trillion.  Including next year's estimate, but not the final Obama budget, Dear Leader is at approx $2.2 trillion and counting.  He has managed this in a very good economy (we can debate who brought it about).  In Obama's first 2 years the economy was somewhere between in the tank and slow recovery, and we had on the budget almost $ 1 trillion in recovery spending, and yet this ''big spending, Socialist, Kenyan, Muslim still managed to have  smaller deficits than Der Groppenfuherer!

The truth hurts don't it!  Wake up America!
