Not so fast. First of all, the only process for removing a President is a political one. First, the House has to introduce articles of impeachment which will certainly happen if the Dems control the House in 2019. Then it goes to the Senate who has to convict. And Trump is not going to resign unless he knows he will be convicted, nor should he. Either way (resignation or conviction), I seriously doubt Pence would win again in 2020.
I would also be remiss if I didn't point out that the payments Trump made are not a violation of campaign finance laws. In essence Lanny Davis got his client to plead guilty to something that is not a crime, even if at the direction of Trump. This is what Cohen gets for retaining a political hack lawyer who is more interested in getting Trump than protecting his client. And it also lays bare the political motivations of the Mueller team. Selective prosecution for political purposes is no virtue. And I would also be remiss if I didn't point out that the govt has paid millions in hush money to cover the backsides of congressmen and women so they could be reelected. Is that also a crime? So left wing nuts, enjoy your moment of euphoria but be prepared for reality as this plays out. This was a bad day for Trump for sure but there is a lot more that has to happen for you to get what you really want, to overturn an election that you didn't like.
Assuming the worst case happens, you can be sure that all the positive changes to our economy will go down the drain. All we can do is vote in November for candidates that don't want to return to the ruinous policies of the Obama years. Regardless of what happens this has been a victory for the deep state and any hope we have of reigning in an out of control Federal government will be gone. I for one am not going to sit on the sidelines and I'll do my part by supporting candidates that believe what I do.

Says that the payments are not campaign contributions. Hard for them to break campaign finance laws when the payments are not illegal. This position is supported by numerous other lawyers familiar with campaign finance laws. They better find some other excuse if they actually want to get Trump. But we all know this isn't about trump per se. This is about the mid-terms and the 2020 election on the part of politicians and restoring the status quo for the deep state.

Historical tidbit: On 6/14/12, DOJ dropped prosecution of John Edwards over the nearly $1 million in payments his backers made to support his pregnant mistress during the 2008 presidential campaign (hidden from FEC) after a jury acquitted on one charge & deadlocked on the rest.

This is ALL about Trump and he has no one to blame but himself. He would throw his own flesh and blood plus Mother Teresa, for good measure, under the bus to save his own sorry ass!!

Bingo. And even that was worse because the people who made the payments were not reimbursed by Edwards. Had he reimbursed them with his personal funds, no violation. Had he reimbursed them from campaign funds he would have been convicted. The way the law is written, dual purpose payments do not fall under the purview of campaign finance laws. As Mark Penn wrote so well in the Hill, if a candidate spends money to have his teeth fixed to help him in a campaign, that is not against the law. And neither is paying off former sex partners, unless they use campaign funds.
But here is the reality. Cohen has thrown his lot in with Clintonista's and they are going to use him as long as he remains a useful idiot. And it may get him a lighter prison sentence but at the end of the day his pleading guilty to a non-crime does not make it a crime. And the left that has themselves all lathered up are going to be disappointed. This is about politics and trying to overturn an election result they did not like and stupid stunts like this are not going to help. In fact, it will have the opposite effect in the midterms because we will be doubly motivated to vote.

For me, the saddest part of the whole thing is that people actually believe that Cohen and Manafort are unique - They just happened to get caught.
This has nothing to do with Trump - this is just an excuse to keep the Mueller investigation going.

im just curious: how many on this Forum would believe an attorney, who secretely records thier client ( a clear violation of attorney client priviledge) , and soon will be disbarred, all of a sudden decides to tell the truth, ( in order to cut his jail time for offensensives unrelated to the client ???); gimme a break; guess he'll be joining OMAROSSA in the TOTALLY Un-Employment line
