Use the money for free trade school.

it's not a Department of Education construct about the free college.  That came from Bernie and Hillary.

I'm all for free education as long as I don't have to pay for it.  Speaking of which, I met a young lady the other day who is studying welding.  She has been taking classes through her senior year and will finish off her program next year at CACC.  She was trying to figure out timewise, how she will finish her welding, and take up drafting studies and work.  She's working for a local company over the summer.

I really wish the schools would encourage more kids towards the trades, because the need is there and some kids just aren't meant for college.  I saw a video on FB the other day.  A guy was talking about how a plumber took him on early in his life.  (this was actually a video about the $15 minimum wage).  He said he didn't make much in the beginning, because he didn't know much.  And as his skills grew, he got paid more money - so it was an incentive to gain more skills.  His point that if you pay everyone $15/hour no matter what the job, it decreases the incentive to learn anything.

Lots, Lots of kids are not meant to go to college. Should not attend college.

The value of a College Education has been so convoluted over time, to me anyway, that it is now in many cases not worth the obscene expense nor the damage that Liberal Socialist Brainwashing leaves behind. However, the Status Symbol is fab....

"Of course this is just my opinion. I could be wrong." to quote one of my all time favorite satirists, Mr. Miller.

talk about rip offs on student loans; my son in law got his Doctorate from vandy & student loans ( from Govt) are an insane interest rate of 6.8%; for perspective--30 year mortgage rates are 4.25%

Compared to credit card interest, the 6.8% seems reasonable. Remember, a mortgage has a property as a lien. A student loan has the student as a lien.

As I understand, the loan for graduate school is unsubsidized and is 3.6 percent above the 10 year Treasury note for graduate students, setting a fixed rate for the life of the loan, and caps rates at 9.5 percent.

Remember 6.8% for an education as Mack says "in many cases not worth the obscene expense nor the damage that Liberal Socialist Brainwashing leaves behind" seems rather low.

You could always gift the difference between the 6.8% and the current 30 year mortgage rate...
