I'm skeptical. Rush Limbaugh said that he would leave the country if Obama became President and he's still here. The thing is that all these people say they will leave the country - in fact, I know a lot of my liberal friends say they will go to Canada. I say, let them go. I guess this is what we have come to - tantrums when things aren't going the way these people think they should. And a good portion of those celebrities are has-beens anyway.

They'll never leave. Just a bunch of silliness in the silly season. But one can only hope. As for those moving to Canada, far more come to the US every year than head north. They don't make it easy to get into Canada.
And I am an avid listener of Rush and to my knowledge he never said he would leave if Obama was elected. The closest he came was in response to a caller about Obamacare being passed and what would he do about health care and he said he would leave the country. He was talking about going to another country for health care and he was clearly joking. He doesnt even have helath insurance and pays directly for his health care.

Of course. I enjoy his show and find him very funny and entertaining. No apologies and most people who denigrate him have never listened to his show. I can't tell you how many people who have had your reaction and when I challenge them to listen to his show for a week they become regular listeners. They realize that everything they have read or heard about him was flat out wrong. And that especially goes for when he is saying something tongue in cheek that the media either presents as serious or blatanlty misrepresents ala his comments about Obamacare.

I actually have listened to his show. I first heard it when I was living in VA. Then later I had a guy doing some work on this house and he listened to Rush Limbaugh faithfully every day. I considered asking him to turn it off, but I really needed the work finished so I sucked it up. For me, Rush Limbaugh is about on the same level of Howard Stern - totally different of course, but on the same level. I would never have figured you for a dittohead.

I completely and permanently turned off Lush in 1994 when I was listening to his show while he watched a TV in the studio monitor showing the arrival of Bill and Hillary Clinton and Chelsea at the White House on Marine One. He says over the air "there is President Clinton and the First Lady and their dog...oh, excuse me I am mistaken, that Chelsea, not the dog." This man is beyond comtempt so I am not at all surprised MM is a fan!!

Not a ditto head at all. I find his show entertaining, especially the Paul Shanklin skits. I take him with a grain of salt but enjoy his show. Frankly Bill Bennet's show is more my speed but he is retiring.

No one believes you ever listened to Rush and only turned him off because of some insult of Chelsea Clinton. I suppose you read that somewhere and have now taken to lying about listening. Media Matters, perhaps? HuffnPuff post, maybe? Pretty pathetic but no surprise. But don't worry, without you he only has 20 million listeners instead of 20 million and one. You aren't missed.....not that you ever really listened.

Then why did you say "I am an avid Rush listener"? Sounds like the words of a real fan to me!
You are correct I am not and have never been a regular listener to Lush (the dope head)...I have too much respect for myself. Years ago I did listen to him on occasion for the chuckle and heard the remark live. You can call me a liar as long as it make you feel good, but I heard it as it happened, it turned my stomach and Lush was no longer in the least bit funny...neither are you MM.
BTW: I didn't hear 2 other Lush put downs of presidental daughters, but he also called Amy Carter the uglest president's daughter in history. He later was reminded of this claim and he corrected himself by sayin he was wrong...he had forgotten about Margaret Truman! Great roll model for the right wingnut intellegencia!! Glad you are an "avid listener".

An avid listener is different than a dittohead. But you would know the difference being a listener, right?
And no, I don't believe you just happened to tune in the one day in his 30 plus years on the air and heard this insult and were so mortified you refused to listen again. And you know why? Because 1) it never happened on the radio; 2) the whole false story was the result of a picture of a dog being put up on his TV show in 1993 when he was introducing the Clintons. It wasn't even on the radio. You are so pathetic and childish lying about something so easily verified.
Oh, I know, it was so long ago you thought it was the radio, right? It felt like it was a radio....radio, TV, what's the diff, right? If you weren't so obnoxious I would actually feel sorry for you that you had to make something up and personalize it to weakly attempt to denigrate someone else. Here is a link to media matters discussing this in some detail. Not exactly a right wing news source. Pathetic...

Anybody who does not join your lock step march to ending freedom in America, as crazy, or a liar ,or obnoxious? To begin with MM, being called "obnoxious" by you is like being called ugly by a frog with Leprosy.
Now, the TV show you reference did happen just after Clinton was elected, but before he took office I have seen the video, and on it he did make a picture comparison between Chelsea and a dog. He also offered a half hearted apology aimmediately afterward probably realizing that such a statement was a bit over the top for even his audience...MM excepted...l'm pretty sure you hold only slightley less hate for Bill Clinton than Barack Obama.
No, I did not "just happen to be listening" when that one time in years something was said. In his early days when he first was syndicated in Atlanta I often listened to Lush just to get my dander up and /or tickle my funny bone. Now as I say, it matters not one whit for you to call me a liar, or "blame America firster" or "baby killer", I heard what I heard and it was on the radio, not TV, and it was after Clinton was in the White House! My only caveat is there is a slight possibility, though I am almost certain it was Lush, that it could have been said by Neal Boortz who I also sometime listend to to get my daily dose of Bile. Of course Neal was a much more interesting nut than Lush. He on occasion would go out of his way to P O most of his listeners but gain reasonable listeners grudging admiration by supporting Gay Rights, making comments that were obviously pro-choice, and pointing out how off-the-wall crazy the Southern Baptist Convention had become. I'm sure you appreciated his occasional comment that this or that made him as "happy as a Catholic priest at a Boy Scout Jamboree!" He did HATE Clinton and it would certainly not be outside the realm for him to make such a comparison. I DID HEAR IT AS IT WAS SAID BY SOMEBODY ON ATLANTA RADIO! If it was somebody other than Lush I offer my apology to the Windbag! As for it's being said...MM, if you want to pay for the lie detector interview I am ready to take it!

I guess it is okay if you remember he is really just an entertainer and not some oracle. I've actually heard some people say in all seriousness "Rush said" about some political matter as though his pronouncements were something to be seriously considered. On the other side, I hear the same thing from the other side of the ticket about Rachael Maddow. As long as people realize that it is the business of these people to draw audiences to their particular network/station to get money from their sponsors, it is no different than Howard Stern. I have no taste for Howard, but apparently he has a big following.

Well that was a long winded way to say you lied. You specifically stated you heard it on his show and even gave the year.
Even so, I accept your apology and we can move onto more entertaining disagreements. And I will stop tweaking you for mistyping as I do it myself all the time.........it's just that sometimes I can't help myself because it gets you so angry and defensive.....sorry about that. Here's the thing Hound, and this is something that most of his ardent detractors miss, on many matters of substance in politics, economics, social matters, etc. he believes in the same things I believe in. What makes him so popular is his unique position in the world of media/entertainment as an actual conservative. When we look at the mainstream media we see very few people that are actually conservative and will say so openly. He created an entire genre of conservative talk radio that was desperately needed to counter the monopoly liberals hold on most media outlets. I don't agree with everything he says and he can at times be over the top, but in 90% of the cases where he is pilloried he was using humor to skewer someone or some institution. If you listen long enough you get that.
But in the end, and as he will tell you, his job is to entertain his audience so they will come back for more. That is why the liberal attempts to copy him always fail. The people they pick (Cuomo, Olbermann, et al) are not remotely entertaining and are mostly strident, unfunny demagogues. He is a funny and entertaining demogogue which is why he succeeds. I find it ironic that the left gets into an absolute tizzy when he makes fun of some liberal politicians looks or whatever but those very same people think that comedians and talk show hosts that do the same and much worse to conservatives are just too funny. I can assure you Rush hasn't said one tenth the insulting. obnoxious things that say Bill Maher says on a regular basis and yet one is celebrated by the left and the other vilified.
Sorry for the tome but people who don't listen to him usually know what they know about him from lies and misrepresentations.

Hey MM, you are doggone right you make me angry...I am angry to see such a "brillant" person filled with such anger himself and so unwilling to listen to, let alone accept any facts or truths which are not of his making or part of his list of talking points.
I did not apologize to you and never would stoop so low. I apologized to Rush IF I was wrong about him being the one to say it...I am 95% sure he did. And if you look at my post as an admission I "lied", then you are even crazier than I thought. Anybody who calls another human being a "baby killer" even though they never "killed a Baby" (or a fetus for that matter) is under the inflence of a sick mind and /or some illegal substance and is obviously filled with Hate. You exhibit all these qualities on a regular basis on this forum.

My, my but you are animated this morning. Take a valium and calm down. Take some deep breaths.....that's it......close your eyes and think happy thought......there, don't you feel all better?
I don't hate you or anyone Archie. I feel sorry for you that you are so poorly educated that you cannot use facts, logic and reason to come to reasonable conclusions. I feel sorry for you that you do not understand basic mathematics and science and have fallen hook, line and sinker for a hoax. I feel sorry for you that you feel the need to lie about something you confidently claimed to have heard while listening to a specific radio show in a specific year that I proved did not happen. I feel sorry for you that even when caught in a blatant lie you have so much pride and hatred toward me that you can't even acknowledge what is blatantly obvious to everyone else.
It is indeed sad Archie and I hope you get the mental health care that you desparately need. As for me, I am happy as a clam. Business could be better, still pay too much in taxes, Obama is still incompetent, the Dem candidates are a couple of geriatric socialists, but otherwise life is good. Headed to the lake tonight for a couple of days of golf and relaxation. Oh, and I always tell the truth and never make stuff up like you know who......

You seem abnormally fixated on this baby killer thing and bring it up over and over.......to quote Shakespeare.....methinks thou doth protest too much!
Only those with a completely deformed conscience don't in their heart of hearts know that abortion is the killing of a baby, even if they would never admit as much in public......they know the truth deep down inside them. Maybe your reaction to this demonstrates you do have a little conscience left.....that is a good thing.

You are correct, I am fixated on being called a baby killer by the likes of you! On occasion I have been called less than praiseworthy names, but your sleazy appellation was the only one that ever made me feel hated or at least that the accuser was eaten up with hatred. What other than hate can be ascribed to such a comment? You have a strongly held opinion on many issues with abortion being foremost. You have a right to your opinion and I recognize and welcome that right. Sorry you are so filled with bile and hate for those that disagree on the issue that you are unable or unwilling to return the recognition. It is certainly descriptive of a mind willing to succumb to authoritarianism when it suits their purpose.
Now, don't you ever try to tell me or any other individual what is in their heart concerning abortion or any other issue. It is bad enough that you refuse to recognize the right to another opinion, it is completely unacceptable for you to decide what is anybody else's conscience for them!! Kindly stuff it MM!

Archie, I only call them like I see them and just because you ascribe hatred to my point doesn't make it so. I feel deeply sorry for someone that has lost so much of their humanity that they would end an innocent person's life out of convenience. A group I belong to have raised money for ultrasound machines for Crisis Pregnancy Centers and a great many women have realized after watching an ultrasound that it is in fact a baby and thank God they have chosen life. We do so out of love. Love for an innocent child and love for a woman that won't carry the burden in her soul for having ended that life.
We don't hate those who support abortion, but when they promote abortion, perform an abortion, arrange an abortion, etc. they participated in the killing of a baby. If you don't fall into one of these categories then why so defensive? Again, I think you have a shred of decency left in you and in your heart and that is a good thing.

I do not personally support abortion and I do not encourage abortion but I do support a woman's right to choose abortion when she feels it necessary whether you think it is or not. Now, even if I did support abortion, encourage abortion or even perform legal abortions, that would NOT make me a baby killer in my soul, in my opinion, in the opinion of the law, in the opinion of most Americans or in the opinion of most Christians including Catholics. If and until we have the misfortune to fall under an extreme right wing theocracy just live with it and get off the holier than thou high horse MM!

Yeah, objective truth is based on what most people think in the secular humanist view of the world. But that doesn't make it right any more than slavery was right because a majority of people thought so. Same principle. As for your rationale, when and if a majority of Americans oppose abortion will it suddenly become wrong? Keep in mind the number thinking abortion should be legal has been dropping and is now at around 51% (according to Pew). So just a little over a percent more and it will suddenly become wrong....at least using your logic.
But I am glad you restrict yourself to thinking women should have the right to murder their babies. That will be bad enough on your judgment day....... And thank you for stating that I am holier than thou but its simply not the case. I am as big a sinner as anyone else because I have a well formed conscience and know better. Granted, my sins may not be of the Ten Commandment kind but they are bad enough. Archie, you and I will never agree on abortion and its pointless to argue. I would suggest you find a way to move on from the baby killer thing as it makes you very angry and unhappy. I know I have........
And by the way, I went back and did a search for the term baby killer and the oldest post in the Forum was me responding to your accusation that I called you a baby killer (where by the way, I denied having called you a baby killer). I still have not seen where I called you one....maybe you heard it on the radio on Rush Limbaugh's show?

And the people that are loyal to Rush will continue to listen to him and the people that follow Bill Maher and Rachael will continue to follow them. After all, at the center of every joke there is a kernel of truth. I'm not a party voter - I'm conservative on some issues and liberal on others and that's okay with me. I usually just try to vote for whomever I think will do the best job given the choices. And I have to say that this election cylcle, I think these are the poorest choices in a very long while. I wish I believed in Bernie World, but I know that it will not work, I have no respect for Hilary, I think Ted Cruz is a sociopath and a "true believer" (which I have found is always dangerous), I think Marco Rubio might be great in the future, but he lacks expereince now. I want to believe that Trump would do a good job, but knnowing how slowly things go in Washington, I fear he would merely become impatient and frustrated and possibly do a lot of stupid things. I like John Kasich, but that may be more about his being the ony real adult in the campaign and not because of his beliefs. The rest of the herd were probaby wise to drop out when they did.
