I think Obama has to walk a tightrope on race.  On one hand, he is a black man and a lot of people accuse him of pandering.  Other members of his race have accused him of abandoning him.  I'm sure he listens to Al Sharpton's views, but there isn't any evidence that he is taking it.  I think most presidents have a lot of informal advisors on a wide variety of things.  And ignoring Al Sharpton, who I believe sees himself as Martin Luther King's successor, could be painful for Obama.

Yes, unfortunately you are correct.

You may get Obama in the rear view mirror, but Sharpton will be around.  He has a new Sunday Morning News show.

Just one minor technical point - when you sign in at the WH, it doesn't necessarily mean you are visiting the President.  The Old Executive Office Building share the grounds with the WH, so if you are seeing one of the staffers or someone with an office there, then you are "signing into the WH".  So, if Al Sharpton has signed into the WH 73 times, it doesn't mean that he was visiting the President every time.  Don't forget he is also now a media personality with his own show.  He could have been seeing anyone.
