I wasn't sure where to post this because it deals with fish but not about fishing. Last night, I was down on our dock and there was a swirl of fish just swimming around and around one of our fishing lights. They were small fish -- probably minows, but there were hundreds of them, just swimming around and around. It was a beautiful sight because when the light hit them, they just shimmered like silver. It was the most incredible thing. I actually wondered if it had something to do with the moon. It was very large and red last night.

The full moon in June is a 'Strawberry Moon', we noticed it's red color as well, above the night time lake mist. Beautiful and unusual.

They were shad.

Sounds like a school of threadfin shad to me. Another fun thing to watch when a school of shad start circling around a light is when a bigger fish slashes through the school. The shad scatter, then reform and begin circling until the next attack.

Light attracts bugs, bugs attract shad, shad attracts crappie/bass. Toss a minnow on a hook in there and see what happens. :-)
