My youngest son Chris was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout today.....I know it's not lake related, but please forgive me as I'm a proud Papa.

I've been around 65 years and done a lot of things. Making eagle scout is one of the things about which I am most proud.

Congratutlations to your son.

Proud of your son, and proud of you for being proud. More "daddy" support is needed these days.

His project had 2 parts. He refurbished a a walking bridge at his former Elementary School. He then built a barrel system to collect water from rain gutters for watering plants in the school courtyard (drought inspired). The barrels have easy to use spouts that can connect to a hose, and an overflow system to divert excess water back into the ground.

Considering exposure to less honorable behavior in his environment (regardless of where you are/or what you do) , at his age, you and your family should be indeed proud.
Eagle is not easy, and certainly not a Gimme'.

I hope to one-up you some day. My oldest just moved up to Boy Scouts, Thing 2 is a Wolf, and the youngest is a tagalong who is picking up on everything the two big bro's are doing.

It's touching to see this support for Scouting. As many have said, achieving Eagle is a family and community effort. Scouting has greatly benefited both of my Eagle Scouts, and your support will help keep the organization strong..... For those of you with young Scouts, I look forward to hearing about their success!!!

Something I will never forget from my childhood...Always be:
Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, & Reverent. A little corny but it has helped me become a good person.
