Saw this on Facebook tonight:

"RickyandStacie Baker to Goat Island of Lake Martin

I hope everyone has enjoyed the goats on the island these last few years. Because of people bringing dogs to the island, despite the signs and us asking to keep dogs away, this will be their last year there. Our goats will no longer be abused by dogs, therefore they are leaving the island and not coming back. We really hate this because the goats enjoy the island and everyone coming to visit them except for dogs."

So once again, people who think the rules don't apply to them are ruining something for everyone else.

There are still several weeks left to enjoy the goats AND to beat the ever-lovin' you-know-what out of anyone you see who brings a dog to the island.

It's a shame, but they have to do what is best for the goats.  It's too bad for all the kids (and adults) who have enjoyed seeing and interacting with them.  Let's face it, there is an increasing segment of our society that has no regard for the rules, and a segment that thinks animal abuse is amusing.

I'm sure many of the offenders would tell you they aren't "dogs", they are really precious little fur-babies who go everywhere they go.

Who are Ricky and Stacie Baker?

The dogs causing the problem probably belong to weekenders in our neighborhood. Bring their dogs to the lake and turn them loose to run and harass other dogs and poop in our yard.

Take a picture of dogs and boat number that brought them and contact the marine police.  Not the dogs fault, they are dogs.  I agree with with beating the ‘s’ out of the owners.  If I run across these inconsiderate assholes, they will be sorry.

Gather up those CITY of MONTGOMERY retirees that showed up at Council meeting Tuesday night.

The boaters with dogs would not be back!

Rickie & Stacie Baker own the goats.  They bring them to the island each year. They take care of them and all their vet bills.

My wife was one of those retirees.  She actually pointed out the finance director’s chart was incorrect.

My dogs are precious fur babies who go wherever I go.  But that doesn't mean that they don't have to be controlled in circumstances, and that I don't have to respect the rules or keep them from being a threat.  I suspect that some people find it amusing to let their dogs harass the goats, but speaking as a dog owner, I certainly wouldn't let mine do it. Some of us are responsible pet owners.

Thank you TH for being a responsible pet owner.  We also love dogs but it only takes a couple of rotten apples to ruin a whole barrel.

We actually took some friends down there this weekend.  I was amazed at the amount of work they put into it and there was a big crowd of kids there playing with and feeding the goats corn.  Shame bad apples have to ruin everything good but I can understand the owners not wanting their goats to be harassed by dogs.  We would never take ours there as he would have a field day.
