I would have wrongly assumed that being out in the fresh air would prevent this. But when I read that she was woozy, that was a dead giveaway. Glad they are incorporating this into boater safety training.

This happened to a friend of mine's 5 year old at chimney rock a few years ago. Just doing the normal out there and cranked the boat for a few to make sure radio had not run battery down. He was sitting on the swim platform with a few others on a mastercraft. Luckily one of the ladies there sitting beside him saw him and realized what was going on (she was a nurse). He came around a little later on but was very scary. Happened in a minute or two. Even in the open air, the swim platforms are not real good to be sitting on while boat is running. Sad for that girl. She had no idea.
