Does anyone have a good solution for getting rid of the swarms of gnats this time of year by the lake? Our bug zappers stay full but aren't making a dent in the problem.

If you find one, I'd love to know about it.  Only thing I do now is spray them with flying insect spray.

These gnats are seasonal, each and every year. Suggest you do not fight them, but ignore them. They will be gone in a few days at most until next year. Douse bright lights near your outside windows and keep outside doors closed tight.

Sweep or blow the dead gnats away every morning until they are gone. Just about all you can do, or probably should do.

Cheers for lake life,,,,

Gnats go for the head...so if you are outside and encounter them, clench your fist and hold it high over your head.  They will think your fist is your head and go for it instead of your real noggin.

I am afraid that might be taken as a political statement, and would draw "retaliation" form those who are easily offended....

Have you tried this method and does it really work?  Most insects, especially mosquitos, are attracted the CO2 we emitt so therefore may seem to be attracted ones head but really just the CO2 is what they are attracted to.  That is why mosquito deleto's worked so well until CO2 was declared a "pollutant" and anything that emitts it become so politically incorrect that  I think they quit making them.  Havent checked in years.  Mine is 16 years old.

Yes and yes, although not perfectly.  Keeps most of them high enough for you to get to where they aren't.

That's why I pal around with 7 footers and always dated woman over 6'3". Conservatives typically have midget minds and attract gnats head over fist.
