My warning horn started going off today on my 150 Mercury. Checked the water --working Checked the oil reserve -- 3/4 full
Engine is hot .
Could it be Oil pump failure?
If so, who does a good job in the area ?
Thanks

I think both have established credibility, but I haven't had any dealings with Jeff. I recommend Steve, because from personal experience I know he knows his stuff and will do you right.
Hope your fix is an easy one!

Mix oil 50-1 and run it see if it uses oil out of the oil tank. Cut line to horn and mix from now on.

Haven't used Performance but I have used Cathouse for my two boats and two jet skis. Very trustworthy and reasonably priced. He saved me several thousand on a gimble bearing housing replacement that wasn't needed. He will take good care of you.

CatHouse is my choice also but that is not to take anything away from Jeff. They both do excellent work.
Also don't just cut the line and start mixing oil. That is a potentially fatal mistake. It will work short term but will most likely fail in the long run. There is a conversion kit that needs to be installed to properly affect the change from injection to pre-mix.

I think you called me this morning. (Mercury EFI) If so, thanks. If I am correct, it will take "Quicksilver software version 5.0. As we spoke of the warning horn, it is NOT only there for low oil. The warning system serves many purposes. It want tell you if you are not pumping oil either. It will let you know the engine is hot, or block pressure is low. The ONLY way to properly diagnose the system is to plug the proper and appropriate software into the ECU and read the program. Most likely, the popit valve is not functioning, or indeed the block pressure is low. Also, yu have to read the Ohms on the Oil Tank level indicator and see if it is lieing to the ECU. It is a probe in the tank with a float surrounding it that moves up and down. If it sinks, it sends the wrong signal, hence Beeeeeeeeep. In addition, the block pressure may NOT be low, but the sensor is sending bad info to ECU. To many other possiblilites to list. We do have all the software needed. I will be glad to help you. And, thanks to the others for recommendation.

Cat had me believing until the following: " It is a probe in the tank with a float surrounding it that moves up and down. If it sinks, it sends the wrong signal, hence Beeeeeeeeep.
Then I knew he had wandered off subject!
