Despite my fervrant criticism of his scientific imbecility I have always admired his commitment to marriage. And yet we now learn that his only shred of decency has been shredded. After 40 years it appears that he and Tipper are going their seperate ways. Does anyone believe with all his millions in i'll gotten gains in the AGW scam that he doesn't have a honey? Indeed he is finally a complete scumbag as opposed to having one redeemable value. Now he has none.

Could not have said it better. The real Al has surfaced. I hope that Tipper is not involved in anything. That would be disappointing. I feel for the children. Divorce is horrible.

It's nice to see no one rushes to judgement. Remember the glass houses?

Let's just leave them alone.

I am supposed to leave them alone and I rushed to judgment by responding to their very public press release??? Apparently they thought it was newsworthy to air their personal affairs in public. I frankly could care less about his personal life but once he decided they needed to issue a press release to the whole world announcing the split it is very reasonable to comment on it and very unreasonable to criticize others for doing so. In fact I started off by commenting that I always admired him for his marriage and now that is gone....there is nothing left to admire about Algore and I find it reprehensible that he has made millions of dollars off a scam.
As for glass houses I have been married for 26 years and am not the least bit worried about my marriage failing. We work very hard at maintaining our relationship. Annually we attend a marriage renewal retreat and we renew our vows every year. We pray together and attend regular mass together. So in this case I do not live in a glass house.

I'm perplexed why a couple married 40 years would suddenly want a divorce, unless one of them had met someone else. The official reason is that they had grown apart and were living separate lives -- so why then decide on divorce now?
Beyond that, I couldn't care less -- he is a fool that has managed to convince some sections of the population that he has some particular vision and insight and is doing everything he can to be a commercially marketable propety.

This is an interesting quote given the vast majority of the discussion on the forum stems from the actions, statements, positions and policies of individuals. All the issues ultimately stem from people. They are not amorphous concepts that magically appear from out of the ether. They are always driven by people and any time we discuss an issue it is a discussion of a person or group of people.
I am not sure why you are fixated on this thread. He is a public person. He has made millions off his public persona. He freely decided to take what to most decent people would be a private matter and issue a press release to make it a public matter. We are merely discussing it in this forum. Perhaps you should save your criticism for Algore and his decision to make this an issue of discussion by deeming it newsworthy..........
As for your Roosevelt quote I offer the following rebuttal:
A witty saying proves nothing. -- Voltaire
Which of course is akin to "In general, all generalizations are false, including this one." Author Unkown

Hound, I agree that he or she probably wants to move on but who knows and who really cares. My comment was directed at the fact that his marriage appeared to be his only redeemable quality and we now learn that it too was a sham along with every other aspect of his life. He has zero qualities to admire......I could go on for paragraphs talking about his blatant hypocrisy with example after example. I could frankly care less about Algore except he spawned a global scam that has the potential to reduce the standard of living for hundreds of millions of people around the world while he personally becomes an ultra wealthy man. Any opportunity to skewer him will be taken.

I dismissed him long ago as a fool.
I guess the thing I find most interesting is that all these "public" marriages that are offered up in spin as ideal always turn out to be a hollow core. Not just in politics, either.
BTW, I just finished reading Laura Bush's book. It's very good -- of course, I always admired her ---but there is an example of a good, solid marriage.

I'll get her book on my ipad. I had heard it was good but I am currently reading a book about the Marines that fought in Pielieu and Okinawa during WWII written by a guy that came from Alabama. Its called With the Old Breed and I highly recommend it as it is a great book. I also have a Mark Twain biography in the cue. So many good books....so little time. If you would donate your TSP account to me I could quit working so hard and read more often. I assume your are out of equities and its still worth something. Feb will never notice it is gone. Just a thought.... :-)

Know what you mean about the books. Even though I'm retired, I don't have nearly enough time to read.
