The Messiah has now dropped below 50% in friendly polls (CBS/NYT). Still has good support with Dems but 58% of independents have come to their senses and disapprove of his performance and his support keeps on dropping. Ironically, he still enjoys 100% support from self-proclaimed independents on the forum. A statistical outlier perhaps?

Old MM knows how to hook an independant's attention and reel him/her into one of these discussions.
-MM of course is wrong that 100% of "I"s on this forum support Obama, ---but it was good bait. I'll be all afternoon taking the hook out of my mouth.
-As an "I" I did not vote for Obama because I just did not like his announced policy plans, and the arrogance of his refusal to let us judge his past actions and records by keeping information on tehm from us.
-However, I will admit that once he was elected, I did like the idea of a black man being president, ---however, as his actions yelled socialist and his, what I call anti-American, socialist/communist supporters came on board in policy making positions, I became less happy and more alarmed at what I saw/see. He and his administration must go!

Can you expound a bit more on "the idea of a black man being president?"

AU67 asks in above post: "Can you expound a bit more on "the idea of a black man being president?"

-Sure. What I meant is that Obama's election is part of teh traditional American dream. The idea that a poor kid from a log cabin in Kentucky can eventually be President of teh USA.
-At one time in teh past, th epresidency belonged to just rich white land owners; then polticians from partrician families; then Jackson hit the scene and it was self-made men; then Kennedy hit the scene and it was Catholics; then Reagan hit the scene and it was divorced men; then Obama hit the scene and it was black men; soon it will be a woman.
-All these changes in teh requirements for president reflect changes in the society that elected them.
-Sure we can argue about whether these changes were good or bad, but in the end we would agree, I think, that the openess of teh American people reflect continued confidence that the people can look beyound teh physical or social characteristics of the man/woman, and look to their ideals, goals, and capabilites to successfully continue the great experiment that is America.
-Sometimes the people get it wrong; I think this is one of those times.

I was specifically referring to those independents that voted for Obama, not the independents that saw beyond the rhetoric, the flowery teleprompter reading and the government media lies and voted for McCain.

My interest is less in the color of a person's skin or their gender and more on the content of their character. In Obama's case his character (or lack thereof) was pretty well defined by his history which far too many independents (present company excluded of course) chose to ignore. For many of them it is much to their regret and more and more each day reach that sad but inevitable conclusion. Those independents on this forum that voted for Obama are apparently slow to recognize what many who did now see as plain as day. That is the statistical outlier i was referring to....

si-i-i-i-i-igh, ...the reality is...that we again need to have another "what is an independent" talk!
