Intersting numbers.  24M watched the 2 hour debate on Fox which is a pretty good number and indicates there are a lot of Republicans that want to learn more about the other candidates.  However, 175M have viewed Carlson's 46-minute  interview of Trump on X so far!

Setting aside the "going to the race to see the wrecks" aspect of the Trump interview, if I were in the cable or network news business this would scare the crap out of me.  I think I am starting to understand why Musk bought X (nee Twitter).  He is going to use it to replace the way we get our news.  I also expect Fox to sue Carlson and X any day now.  I cannot imagine they are going to sit by ildly letting X take over the news business.  And if I were a popular host like Carlson was I would seriously consider switching to X when my contract is up.

As for the debate itself, unfortunately I don't think anyone moved the needle one way or the other.  I did enjoy Chris Christie gettng booed.  None of them have a chance against Trump, not even DeSantis who certainly has a stellar record to run on.  I will still vote for him in the primary but I suspect it will be for naught.

If it was not for weather and traffic I would not watch the news.

I watched the debate. The person that amazed me was Pence.  He was so aggressive and I didn't know he had it in him.

I agree, no one moved the needle with this appearance.  I ddn't even know the guy from North Dakota was running....never heard of him, but I think he held his own.

Funny thing about Pence is that he has been roundly pounded for his conduct.  He had very little to lose in being aggressive as he has zero hope of getting the nomination, even if Trump bows out.  I really wish there was someone else besides Trump but it is what it is.  I just don't think he will beat Biden because he is too disliked by too many people.  My inbox is filling up with emails from each candidate saying they won the debate.  Spinning like crazy.

Thought Haley did quite well. Pence surprised me but his constant reference to religion is a turnoff. DeSantis lost it when he couldn't decide whether to raise his hand. Scott was a disappointment and Christie is not going anywheres. The party's choices are not strong....a criminal or the cast of characters on stage. There is one other who may emerge...Youngkin Gov of VA.

I use two apps - but having someone familier with local weather patterns is often the difference between 80% chance of storms and getting the grass cut.

Same with traffic- several apps that show traffic, but I can listen to it on the news while doing other things in the morning before I leave.

Youngkin is not going to jump in unless Trump bails (pun intended).  I hope I am wrong but I think Trump is going to run away with the nomination.  Even if 50% don't want him they are going to be split amongst the other candidates and no one is going to emerge as a strong second.  I had hope for DeSantis but at this point I think not.  And Vivek is a poser who says all the right things...until he doesn't.  Haley is see as a RINO more focused on foreign issues which are not high on the prioroty list right now given how well Bradonomics is working.  Hope I am wrong but I'm thinking it will be over on Super Tuesday.
