Yep. Me too. Well, not so much pier work but I want 2 trees to go away and I need the water to go down so I can safely burn them. We have been most fortunate with the water this year. My first year to have a full lake all season. I guess once every 6 years is ok. I just wish my boat had been running all year. It's pretty much been parked the last 2 months. <>< TC

Since 1990 when my parents bought the place I now have, we've seen it when the boat was sitting on the bottom this time of year and when it was flooding this time of year. We adjust and take it for what it is.

I cant say I like it when Logan is low while the lakes south of us are close to full pool nor when its high and the others aren't flooded but I realize its gonna happen so I don't worry about it, just take the proper precautions either high or low.

Honestly I like the fact that the lake is low during winter. Since I dont scuba dive and am too old to want to learn, its easy on this old man to take care of things. Besides, I imagine swinging a 22oz Eastwing hammer is easier above water LOL

Lord willing in a year or two I will be able to spend more time during the week at the lake, after I retire. I wont have to listen to those of you who stink up the sound waves with those infernal Udden Uddens ( Jet Skis) ,maybe, during the weekdays LOL.

Its been another good year. Lookin forward to some Autumn fishin.

God Bless

Well Jace, lets see if I can put my perspective on the issue of retirement.

SOME of the people I know who are retired feel the same as you described

MOST of the people I know who are retired love being retired

My own perspective on future retirement

Yes, for a couple of years money will be less, but some bills will be lower.
1. New heating and cooling system installed is already lowering bills
2. New Windows installed are already lowering bills
3. Car is a Honda CRV, TERRIFIC MILEAGE
4. Truck is a V6, TERRIFIC MILEAGE
5. Changed phone/internet service to a money saving service

Things to do
1. Grandkids to see more often
2. Paid for Bass Boat ( Old but reliable)
3. Old "79" Corvette ( wanna buy it?) to piddle with if I don't sell it
4. Home remodel. FREE LABOR! I never found ANYTHING I couldn't build ( over 40 years in construction, I kinda picked up a few lessons on things)
5. Tools to build fishing rods ( fun hobby)
6. A basement full of wood-working tools to enjoy ( amazing the things one can build with free scrap wood)
7. A lake place to go to
8. Bags full of Cameras ( fun Hobby)
9. Almost paid for Pontoon boat to enjoy
10. Welding and cutting tools ( who knows, I might become a famous metal artist)
11. Friends who might need something repaired at their homes (will work for beer)
12. Fishing
13. Fishing
14. Fishing
15. Good eyesight to check out Lady's Swimsuit Fashions ( fun hobby) FREE!
16. Fishing
17. Spinner-bait and jig molds to make my own ( fun hobby, free lead)
18. Intentions to get into gardening
19. Fishing
20. Wife to keep my ears occupied

BUT....... If I should get bored or require fun money (or want to escape having my ears occupied),, contacts made that will hire me on a part time basis.

21. Almost forgot,, voracious reader.. BOOKS to read! (considering a kindle, running out of shelf space)

Feel free to pass this list on to those retired people you know who need something to do
