We broke the county up into different neighborhoods and found the median sales price on homes in that area," she said. "There was about a 25-percent increase in value in interior homes and as much as a 100-percent jump on the lake.

can afford to pick up the trash on the side of the road now. Don't you love the way they say "your taxes are not going up, just the value of your property". Gov. Riley sure found out how to solve the state deficit problem.

FEB and MotorMan, please don't tell us how great we have it with our low taxes!!!

most Lake property owners are not registered voters in their Lake Home Counties and have no reprensentation.

You are right about the trash and litter on public right of ways not to mention the poor roads and lack of maintenance.

Someone should take a ride out to the property of each County official and check their property assessment and property taxes. Might be an eye opener.

I am in Coosa County, and it doubled last year.

backward, but at least they have a state law that prevents a county from raising total gross property tax receipts more than 8% in a single year without a referendum. A revaluation requires an adjustment in the tax rate.

Got mine. I sure can't argue about the assessment although it almost doubled. Hey! Now maybe the county will have some money for things like animal control and zoning. :O)

You could go to this site and check it out if you have their addresses. You'll need to download the viewer if you don't have one. Easy. This is great for nosy folks :-) Assessments, taxes, owners etc. I think some sales data is in there too.

The aerial view is very useful if the picture was taken during the winter. I looked at one in the Bama Park area and you can clearly see who has winter water and who doesn't.

looks like they're shotgunning instead of appraising.

This is now my new favorite time waster. Scrushy's 5.9M; Tuberville's 1.2 M etc. And no more wondering, "who owns that place?". If only Elmore and Coosa Co had a similar website!

Try emapsplus.com for Elmore County. No photos but it does have plats, assessments, etc.

on when those satellite photos were taken? My guess is Jan or Feb of 2004. Those of you who have built or changed your lots or homes may be able to tell by looking at the progress.

Not only are going to hear from FEB and MotorMan how great we have it, you' ll hear it from me as well! We live just north of the second-most taxed city in the nation. We live in a county just north of it that has double the property taxes. When we bought a cottage on LM a few years ago, we asked our realtor how much property taxes would run on the property we had just made an offer on. She said $400.00. We asked if that was per month, and she said no, per year. We were shocked, as our property taxes are $3,600.00 per year! If our property taxes go up 60% to $630.00 per year, we will still feel truly blessed......
