A widow in my neighborhood hired Jonathon Blackwell to do some minor carpentry repairs, primarily replacing the thre steps leading into her shed.  It was total joke of a job and I wish I could post pics of it.  He spanned 4ft with a 5/4 board and only bothered to put one screw in the boards he even put srews in.  They were so poorly done that the door to the shed wouldn't even open. 

His company name, or one of them at least as he may be using more than one, is Jonathan J's New Construction and Remodeling LLC.  He was hired from being on FB LM Q&A and she complained to them and they have removed/banned him from that site because she was not the first to complain about him.  Once I saw and pointed out what a joke the steps were she tried to get him to come back out rectify the situation and at first he was going too, but that of course never happened.  He did however threaten to sue her for defamation if she posted anything negative about him.  So after she posted on FB several folks reached out privately to let her know they had also been taken by this scammer but didn't go public with it.

If you read this Jonathan you know who I am.  We talked when you came out to look at the job and I asked you to give me a price on roofing.  You texted me your name and number.  So if you want to dispute anything said here contact me.  You are a RIPOFF, nothing more than a thief IMO.  Prove me wrong.

I was recently warned about him from another contractor.  Apparently he has a colorful past.

In the future, if you are using Lake Martin Q&A to find people, look for those that get repeated thumbs up.  I have taken to openly praising the people that I use if they do a good job and I will repeatedly recommending them to other people, and I see that other people are following suit.  A carpenter that I highly recommend is Wayne McCormick, Jr.  He will actually show up and do good work.  He rescreened my screen porch, redid the top of my boathouse (cedar shakes and trim) and adjusted some cabinet doors for me.  He's about to replace some rotted wood on the dormers.  I've seen other bigger jobs he does and his work is excellent.  He was recommended to me by another contractor.
