I think he is right.  The media has hyped the panic of needing to stockpile supplies.  Last weekend I watched Face the Nation, and Margaret Brennen would not let go of the idea that hospitals would soon be overwhelmed.  Dr. Fauci was her guest and it was apparent that he was getting annoyed with her insistence at painting a worst case scenerio.  The media is driving the idea that testing is inadequate.  Today's idea is that the President isn't showing leadership, by not setting down mandates for each state to follow; however te truth is that each state is different.   The panic about this illness was brought about by the media.  Listen to the experts, ie, the medical community and stop following television personalities, Hollywood, etc.

I have been saying this to people over and over and they just refuse to think logically and critically.  I literally have never seen anything so irresponsible as the current media coverage of this flu season.

Your texts are doing a disservice to the nation.  If you want to continue to equate this as nothing more than the flu please do it to immediate friends and family only one as not to endanger others stupid enough to listen to you! Even Yrump is finally waking up to just how dangerous attitudes like yours is!

I'm sure they did a movie about a virus once so they are now experts.  I am waiting for Dustin Hoffman, Morgan Freeman, et al to testify in front of Congress about how to handle this......

Careful Archie.  MM did not equate this to simply the flu and neither have I.  See my posts in a previous thread.  If you follow the science derived protocols as best as you can, we can all limit the peak incidence.  I am optimistic that we will emerge from this and put our nose to the grindstone, learn, and make appropriate adjustments and recommendations to those who were caught flat-footed (ie CDC).  Nobody, not  the fed gov't, Trump, Obama, Clinton can be adequately and totally prepared for something like this.  Laying blame is a waste of needed energyand resources, unless your goal is for total reconfiguation of American government and culture, which I suspect is your prime agenda.

In Outbreak I think their solution was to drop a fuel air bomb on a city to vaporize it.

So probably not best to go to them for the answers.

I think Antifatech has been drinking the handsanatizer, he is more insane then normal.

A. COVID-19

B. Presidential primaries

C. Tom Brady leaving the Pats.

He must be absolutely gleeful.  Wonder where he was in 2009 when 60,000 Americans died during the H1N1 virus?  Oh wait, his Messiah was President then so who cares how many die as long as dear leader is protected from criticism.

How you want to handle it!  I know you are absolutely convinced you are 2nd only to Trump in your belief of how intellectually superior you are, but if your attitude prevails you are about to get a major dent in that brillant cranium at the same time you get kicked in the fanny.

The number of cases is up another 25% today but hopefully the “get serious” measures being put in place will slow the progression.  Had we stuck to your and CRD’s and Hound’s attitude and done little beyond washing our hands we were on track to make Italy’s experience look like a paper cut!

There are now 150 cases in GA and one is the mother in law of a structural engineer l often consult and the other is the current husband of ex wife of the son one of our best friends.  It is real and it ain’t the friking flu whether you have the sense to know it or not!

Your intellectual superiority continues to be "well" noted!!!!!!!!!!!.

Archie,

The recommendations for limitation of Corona spread are the same as for ANY infectious disease.  In a sense, our response is rightfully heightened, however, MM was not in my opinion saying relax, it is only the flu.  A confluence of factors created China and Italy.  That confluence is not happening here.  Only my opinion, don't make any personal decisions based on anything but what YOU consider to be reliable facts.

Georgia cases per GDPH, 146

Deaths: 1

18-59 age group has eclipsed the 60+ age for numbers of cases

Female > Male

Just the facts Archie.

Ga cases up 24 in 24 hours...a 20% increase and the national cases up just under 1000 to 5723 or 23%.  Sure a tiny number in a nation of 330 million but at 20 to 30% a day it will be in the millions before May. Italy went from 150 to 30,000 since Feb 24...3 weeks!

When was the last time schools, the Final 4, NBA, MLB, NHL, the Masters, the GA legislature, Broadway, Cruise lines, Foreign destination air transport, elections, and all Chic Fil A dining rooms closed because of an infectious disease?

I have review several of MM’s posts on the subject and I think any reasonable person could only interpret each one as him equating this with the seasonal flu and suggesting we all treat it as such.  Perhaps you should do the similar review.

BTW: I have on idea why my I pad has jumped the gun twice and posted before l entered anything.

Archie, I swear you only read what you want to read.  Nobody said that this was "just a flu".  Precautions that are used for ANY INFECTIOUS DISEASE are appropriate here when they can be routinely instituted.  I stated that this virus is a B:Tch, did I not?  And it is.  No disputing it, however, the organizations that have made the changes that you described found it difficult, under their business model, to accomodate those very same precautions with any degree of certainty and reliability.  How many times have you heard the phrase "out of an abundance of caution" used during the past 2 weeks.  People and organizations are acting out of an abundance of caution, rightly so, but your extrapolation at this point is simply conjecture on your part and has limited to no validity, so...... in keeping with your instructions to MM, please stop from repeating these to rationally minded individuals.

The experts working this issue have repeatedly stated that they expect the number of confirmed cases to increase, most probably because of the increased number of tests being conducted.  So absolute numbers like those you state are not an accurate determinant of the rate of increase in infections.  More than likely the increase is due in part to increased testing, we just have no way of determining the ratio of positive test results due to increased testing and the actual number of new infections.

Archie, I find your posts arrogant, condescending, and insulting to those on this forum who don't agree with your extreme positions and wild-eyed opinions about those in charge of running our nation.  You attribute any disagreement as Trump worship, stupidity, and/or being blind to the "facts" as you see them (in most cases your opinions or numbers twisted so they look like they might support your claims).  Many (most?) of the posters you have the most problem with are educated, in some cases HIGHLY educated people of widely varying walks of life.  You need to take a step back and think about what they believe and state. Just maybe there is more merit to their statements, facts, and opinions than you are willing to admit.

If it keeps growing by 20-30 percent a day then 100 % should happen in around a week, 2 at most.  Even in hotspots its not hitting 100%.  You are a fear monger.

and that is the scariest  part.  And CRD you keep insisting nobody on this forum is equating this with the flu...that is absolutely incorrect.  I don't know if you have used the word ''flu'' in your comparison but you have absolutely compared it to a typical infectuous contagion and you have said that you did not consider it a crisis.  How many people have to get it before you would classify it as a crisis?  Is it a crisis in Italy, China, Spain? Just what do you consider a crisis?

Archie, for you the layman, how one labels an event becomes almost an obsession.  It dictates your response and contributes mightily to your baseline level of anxiety.  For those in healthcare, we should responsibly rely on data that dictate our recommended responses regardless of how the layman describes the event.   The most valuable piece of information for answering questions regarding  future infectivity for example,  which assists departments of public health in recommending certain precautionary behavior is not how you so non chalantly extrapolated data, but would be to know the current prevalence of the infection in a random sample of a population and to repeat this exercise at regular time intervals to estimate the incidence of new infections. Sadly, that’s information we don’t have.  Therefore, your doomsday predictions, which predicate your labeling of this "crisis" makes sense to you,  It does not to me because we simply don't have data to support your assumption.  This is still an infectious disease that warrants all of us working together to contain it in a data driven manner that is free from panic and blame.
