Think about it.  They can forever add the monicker, "Former Presidential Candidate" to their bio and resume.  It's worth millions on cable news, especially if you can use the faux gravitas in bashing whoever the media wants bashed that particular day.  And yes, they can keep the money they raise and don't use although I believe there are limitations on how they spend it.  It's why I never give money to primary candidates.  If they don't use it and don't win it's not like they give it back.

As part the deal to get Bernie out of the way the Clinton team taught him how to game the system. Bernie had bout 100 million left in his campaign but such a novice he dint know how to keep any of it. Left over money has to be given to other politicians or PACs or even charities. So Clinton's taught them how to use family/friends to set up money management agency that distributes the money to others. But of course the agency takes a 15% fee on each transaction. So take a 100 million and give it to your favorite "charity" and pocket 15 million. Then of course that charity gives it away to others using the same agency who collects another 15% and so on and so on until all the money is gone. It is money laundering as only a politician can get away with. If you or I tried this scam we would catch RICO charges and go to prison. That's the dirty little secret of political contributions. It goes on during campaigns also with the use of the agency to actually purchase the ads/airtime adding a 15% surcharge for the service. It also works for travel andaccomadations and even payroll.

I imagine seeing bernies wealth increase so from hi campaign is treason so many "also ran" candidates are jumping in the race.
