Between that weird "blame the media" position he took this weekend regarding the sexual harassment charges; refusing to answer any questions and now with a woman actually coming forward this morning in person with a detailed description of the harassment, i predict that Cain's candidacy is over.
i think he would have been better to come clean at the beginning. They never learn.

Curious timing. Gloria Allred has no credibility in my book after she threw that poor housekeeper under the bus.....and wasn't it to bring down another strong Republican candidate?.
I wouldn't be putting nails in the coffin yet. These are unproven allegations and there is certainly a motive to bring him down.
I wonder how much Allred paid her.
And what if there is nothing to come clean about?

I don't know.... when there are 4 women saying that he sexually harassed them, and settlements were paid, I kinda have to think there is something to it.
and I still think that his behavior about the whole things seems suspect. He has parsed words and phrases (kinda Clinton-esque) in a way that makes me suspicious.
His demeanor makes me feel in my gut that there is something to all of this.

After payoffs many will view this as guilt

Yes she did ... odd isn't it.
Anyone can say anything without proof ... sad isn't it. Unfounded allegations happen all the time in the corporate world ... many times corporations settle without admitting guilt to save the expense and drama of a lawsuit. I am not saying there is no merit to the allegations ... but Allred is an ambulance chaser for high profile cases ... especially if she can hurt a republican.

I agree that this lawyer is a scumbag. But for a woman to hold a press conference and describe what happened in such graphic terms and subject herself to scrutiny like that.. she put a name and face to the allegations. And she is accepting no money for interviews.
Cain is supposed to have a press conference about it today. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say. If he just continues to stonewall and parse words, I think he will be through.
I will say that I would feel better about all of this if one or two of the other women came public. I know there are confidentiality agreements and such, but I think those should be waived when it involves a candidate for President. These are very serious charges. And we don't need another Clinton situation in the WH to degrade the Presidency. And if the claims really aren't true as he says, I would say these women deserve to be exposed and ripped.
I have to say that I would be devastated for our country, if we found out that all of this was nothing more than politics. It would be a new low.

All he needs to do is respond to this like Bill Clinton did. Remember, he was elected and reelected after having been accused by more than one woman of infidelity, rape and staining a blue dress. Why should Cain be held to a higher standard, especially for something much less egregious than rape? I mean Democrats and the media (oops, redundant term) circled the wagons for Slick Willie.....why not for poor old Herman?
The answer of course is because he is a conservative....and a black one at that. And GF wonders why I say any Republican caught up in this kind of allegation, whether true or not, should become a Democrat as it would be a resume enhancer.
I think Herman's team should call them all liars and trailer trash.......hire Clinton's bimbo eruption team and destroy these women. After all, it worked before, right? :-)

It's not curious timing...its her 15 minutes of fame like Anita Hill. You wait as more comes out about this it will turn into her being some sort of groupie who he eventually spurned and she is getting her revenge....sort of like Anita Hill....

I will wager her financial situation changes GREATLY in the next six months, if not sooner. Nice job coming for her and her bankruptcy will be paid out. But by then the damage is done and nobody will be paying attention.
|
In my view, he has responded like Bill Clinton with his parsing of words and phrasing.
But, it appears that in the Clinton situation, the women were willing. It's a big difference to be willing and to have an unwanted advance.
And so you are saying that every time a man puts his hands on a women inappropriately, that automatically makes her trailer park trash? That's an interesting perspective, and exactly why so many women don't report it. But, if they report it or not, it doesn't make it right.

Geez Hound, I thought no means no but now you are saying Juanita Brodderick was willing. You better be careful, the Feminazis will be out to get you on that one......oh, wait a second...they too had Slick Willie's back.....
I think you would be surprised to find out that a great many successful, wealthy men have these kinds of settlements. Did you realize that in 2010 alone there were ~15,000 sexual harassment claims filed with the EEOC? And that over half of them were discharged as baseless and only a small percentage ever come to settlement (i.e., the vast majority are false)? And that doesn't count the ones that never reach EEOC because companies settle to avoid all the costs of litigation. All they ask of the gold diggers is to keep their mouths shut because even baseless charges like this will harm a man's reputation.

It doesn't surprise me. And I think that at least some of the time, it is true. Other times, it's opportunistic.
Juanita was that maid who claimed to be raped? I actually think that rape did happen. Maybe she got a financial settlement to back off (I doubt maids are very well paid) and preserve the Frenchman's marriage and his political aspirations.
The thing with sexual harassment is that it is usually a "he said/she said" situation -- most men are not going to do that kind of thing with a witness in the room.
We'll wait and see where this thing with Herman Cain goes. Another woman has come forward.

OK, you win with that one. As a man I could never get away with saying some women deserve to be raped. Bully for you to have the guts and gender to say it and get away with it.

I didn't say she deserved it. No woman deserves to be raped. Nor does any man. I think it must be pretty humiliating -- being treated like a piece of meat.
