Do you have a user with the email nofrils@cogeco.ca?  I got an email from that address referring to a post that I don't recall responding to and am curious if it is legit

I don't have a user with that email address. If they sent it through the messaging system, there is no requirement to be a member to send email messages.

OK, thanks.  I am wondering if the".ca" domain might be Canada.

In any case the email seemed to just quote a post, but with no other message.  I guess I was a dummy for opening it in the first place.  Hopefully I didn't get suckered in to a malware distribution scheme.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Yes, .ca is Canada. I looked in your inbox at the message from that address and it is harmless. They just typed "test". I often see what looks like people poking around looking at how things are designed. I have also seen people send blank messages through the system and I think they believe they are just emailing it to themselves since those are almost always from the Joke and Recipe forums. I should probably close off forum messaging to members only. I'll look at that doing that with some other changes I'm working on. BP

Thanks, Bruce.  I am in the Information Assurance business and the alarms should have sounded when I saw the reference to a thread that I didn't remember posting to, and would have been mightily embarrassed if I got horswoggled into something.  We always tell our customer that if there is ANY doubt about an email don't open it. If it is legitimate they'll try again or contact you by other means.
