That someone is finally listening? I realize Major Garrett is a Fox guy, but there are some interesting quotes in the attached article. Just maybe the health summit did some good after all.
Or am I just being too optimistic?

Perhaps they are seeing that it is something that has to be done incrementally and that the initial framework needed to be smaller. I think this is a positive step.
I think it is always a positive thing when people actually sit down with each other. Even if everyone doesn't end up hugging and singing "kumbyah", some amount of understanding takes place. Ideas get exchanged, and people can't help gaining a better understanding of what someone else really means. No opinions may be changed, but there is an understanding.

-This is all politics, --and most of it to fool teh American People. -I watched all of the health Care summit last week, and was disappointed that most of teh talk was about individual, high profile issues like tort reform, across state sale of insurance, etc. -The big issue that is hidden within this bill is government control. The president said, every time the process of reconcilliation came up, that the American people aren't rally interested in process. And that attitude comes across in this bill. - The apparatus/process to control almost all of the heath care business is set over to the Department of Heath and Human Services. The Dept will control types, costs, availability (rationing) of health services, the schooling of doctors, nurses, etc. The core motivation will be "cost" not quality of care. -FOr example, the NIH report that came out last fall on the mamogram recommendations. Under the house bill, that agency's "recommendations" would be law for the heath care distribution system. IT is written into the house bill. -This government control will ruin the quality of our heath care over the coming decades just like it has in every other socialized medicine system If you have a cold, socialized medicine is great. If you need a heart operation it isn't (see below posting on Canadian priminister seeking heart care in US). -I don't understand why opponents to this move to socialized medicine do not continuously pound on the sure results of rationing and declining quality. It is clearly visible in every government-run system!

It concerns me that too many are being worn down and accepting "smaller" or "incremental" health care.
