The Corps of Engineers announced yesterday that Lake Harris (Wedowee) has been approved for a winter lake level variance to increase the winter level by two feet because of the continuing drought confirmed by both the Corps and NOAA.

Alabama Power notified us on Monday that a similar request will probably be made of FERC for Lake Martin next week. This could mean a higher winter level (483') and an earlier re-fill schedule, if the variance is approved.

That would be great ... but we are very close to 482 so we are already below the 483 so if we are going to get the variance they shhould stop drawing down the lake.
