Most of you feel that this does not involve you, but you need to be aware that State Farm Insurance has just lost the first law suit brought against them by a homeowner on the MS Gulf Coast as a result of the hurricane. State Farm had refused to pay a dime on a house that was "slabbed" by the hurricane, but the judge ruled that they must pay full value of the policy plus the jury awarded $2.5Mil as punitive damages. State Farm has over 1000 similar cases pending. State Farm lost a similar case in Oklahoma recently where fraud was proven. State Farm insures 1/3 of all homeowners in MS--They reported a $2 BIL. profit in the quarter they should have paid out Katrina claims.
Do you really feel safe with State Farm--or any of the others?

I am GLAD to hear that- Darn insurance companies scream when you miss a payment by one day- send out letters saying your coverage has lapsed etc- scare mortgage holders. But you file a claim and see what happens. They have been hiding behind the " Is it wind damage or is it water flood damage" as best I see it a hurricane brings both.
