Has anyone dealt w/ this dealership? They sent me a detailed price breakdown on a waverunner, including trailer, and we agreed to terms. When I called the day I planned to pick it up, they told me the price did not include a trailer even though it was clearly listed as a line item on the quote. They said they had made a mistake and that if I wanted a trailer I would need to pay the additional $700. I questioned their business practices and basically heard that if I didn't like it I didn't need to buy it. Overall, the experience left a very bad taste in my mouth.

I haven't dealt with them, but if they will not honor THEIR written quote, I know I would not deal with them further. ......the ol' bait-n-switch.

We bought a motor for my son a while back from Montgomery Yamaha. We didn't have any problems. But if I had a breakdown list of prices (that they sent me and it included a trailor), and they didn't want to honor it,....I'd be finding the store manager! If that didn't work, don't buy it and let them know you would spead the word about their "honor system". Good luck! That's bad business! VERY bad business!

I have dealt with Montgomery Honda Yamaha mant times over the years. Very honest with me always. Maybe they just made a mistake. I am in the retail sales business, and trust me, we all make mistakes.

I would be interested in other business owner's opinions, but in my profession, I would certainly honor the itemized breakdown fee, mistake or no mistake. Especially since they had more than enough time to catch their supposed error. At worst, they should offer you the trailer at wholesale and throw in the $250.00 Yamaha cover to keep your business. Just MHO...

I fully expected them to either honor the breakdown (they reminded me that it was not a binding quote so I better not call it that) or offer some form of accomodation. Instead, they seemed perfectly comfortable to lose my business - for good.

Legally, the trailer should be included mistake or no mistake. If your decision to buy the item was in part based on the inclusion of a trailer that was listed in the itemized quote, then it should be included. If the finding the manager doesnt work, consider finding an attorney. It might not be worth filing a suit over, but perhaps a letter from an attorney outlining the legal issues at hand would suffice to get you your trailer.

I have never used them but the Yamaha, Sea Doo dealer in Columbiana is great to do business with. I bought a GTX from them earlier this year.
They are L P Outdoor recreation.

I am an attorney - it's not worth the time or trouble.

You are doing the best thing--tell every one you see, meet, email, or talk with about your experience and you will hurt Montgomery Yamaha far worse than if you drug them into court. Just for kicks let Yamaha know about your experience.

As I mentioned, it wouldnt be worth taking them to court, but if you knew any attorneys, they would probably write a letter for you free of charge. It would definetly be worth $700.

Try Ward's Yamaha in Troy. We bought a Wave Runner there in 1997 and saved $1K over Montgomery price and have received excellent service from them. Still a "down-home" operation that hasn't gotten too big for their britches. Their service technician, Ronnie, is a magician with two stroke engines.

Start by contacting the Better Business Bureau. Also go straight to the Yamaha corporate offices with your complaint.

The general manager of the dealership contacted me over the weekend. He was very professional and apologetic. He also acknowledged that everything I said in the original posting was accurate.

We agreed that the situation was unfortunate and should have been brought to his attention sooner (probably by his employees). He stated that if he had been aware he would have made good on the deal.

So what did you ultimately do? Talk comes cheap, did you take hold him to the original quote or buy elsewhere.

Of course not. I was not inclined to do business there and had already long since bought a different jet ski.
