Have any of you folks ventured out in this area? My house is there and I have yet to get the boat out after the storm for concern over seen and unseen debris. I would appreciate any advice or shared experience. Thanks!

Windover has some large debris floating and partly submerged. My suggestion is to boat north of Wind Creek as most of the junk is going the other way.

was afraid of that--but, really appreciate the advice. the bad part for me is I am in Windover, so, guess I will stay land locked for a while!

Twice on the weekend after the storms, I boated from the Wind Creek Area to Willow Point.   I saw a lot of debris in the areas where the storm hit but even it was avoidable.

This is not nearly as big a mess as the year of the log jams.

spun a prop there last week on a 2X4. Be careful, we were weaving through the floaters and just didn't see the one that got his prop. Hopefully everything is moving toward the dam. I've got a 6 foot 2x12 washed up on shore here on Sandy Creek.

Okay here is what I meant to say... You can go through the area, I suggest slow speeds with a watch person on the bow. I am working in the Windover at the main damage area. We pull out at least 4 large boards per day(slow day) some as large as double 2X12X12 header with all the nails sticking out from it. There are also trees being cut and left to float. I don't want to scare you from boating in this area, Just use caution please.

traveled from Manoy Creek down to Ridge just across from where storm crossed the water- not bad as long as you stay away from shore at least 150 yards.  Darn cold day for a ride also.

On that note, I would recommend that when your out that you stand up at your helm when navigating. Everyone I saw was sitting down. You have much better vision and can see hazards better if you are standing.

And remember in a pontoon boat underway, you cannot stand/sit on the bow, tempting as it may be to spotting from there.

Nobody knows what is suspended in the water around the worst storm areas and downriver from there toward the dam. Or in the Big water from Children's Harbor toward the dam. Suspended, neither floating on top nor sunk to the bottom. Suspended. I can picture a section of a roof, complete with shingles, suspended just below the surface, just waiting for somebody's outdrive. Never see it until you hit it.
Your choice. But then, I think the 4th fireworks are dangerous in a boat with no debris.
