We are weekend residents with a manufactured home built in 1989.

A few weeks ago we discovered that EVERY pvc water pipe had burst.

The pipes were brittle from "old age" we suspect.

Also two toilets had frozen and had burst tanks.

Every plumbing item [with a couple of exceptions] has been replaced.

Anyone else have a similar problem after our cold winter?

It was certainly cold enough. My heat pump usually works pretty well but during the coldests of days, 60 degrees was all it could muster even though it was set considerably higher than that.

You must not have drained or winterized your trailer. When you put in the new plumbing right past the main cutoff valve put in a drain so you can drain all your pipes. Even new pipes would have burst this past winter with some temps as low as 9 degrees. When you drain your lines be sure to flush all toilets also. Hope this helps.

We had drained the system but did not flush the toilets.

The meter valve was closed at the street but we later found that the meter

had a slow leak which apparently refilled the system over time.

Thus water throughout the system when the cold temps came.

This is an expensive lesson learned.

Draning your pipes will not remove all the water inside unless they are on grade. Water can be pushed out by using compressed

air.

Thanks Old Diver. That is on our winter "to-do" list as well.

This has been a nightmare.

Man that stinks.. We learned over the years to have a secondary shutoff valve right before it inters the house under the ground. This will give you two points to shut the water off. After shutting the water off get the antifreeze made for campers and flush your toilets with the water off, then poor it into the bowl and the back and flush again. that gets it into the drain system. also poor a little in each drain for the traps. Thank God we had no problems. Good luck!! Hope this helps!! Ga Steve

At least yours are in a mobile home. I helped a friend fix some of his burst pipes on a camping trailer, you talk about a job they were put in before the walls were finished. So we had to cut and pull out lengths and replace. Hope you have better luck than we did.
