I’ve seen photos taken outside the gate at the airport, and was shocked to see Marines lined up shoulder to shoulder checking Afghans who were trying to get in.  No wonder so many Marines were killed or injured from the explosion.  There are rules the military teaches, and one very important one is do not cluster, congregate, or bunch up when the enemy is close or expected.  YOU DON”T DO WHAT I SAW!!  AND, have security out at all times.  Surprising….and deadly!

I suspect they were clustered to keep the crush of the mob from geting in.  They are on sentry duty, not on a combat field.  I heard that they have to body check everyone they let in, and that makes them very vulnerable.

Sadly, all the Embassy people have been airlifted out.  And it is Marines who guard the Embassy.  

They weren't supposed to be in a combat situation, they were supposed to be keeping the mobs back and checking those who were legitimately leaving.  I don't know know if you have seen the pictures, but hoards of people are outside the gate - it's a mixture of those who have been told to report and those who would beg and plead to leave.  it's not orderly - these people don't queue.  

Did you see that there were a group of veteran Special Ops guys who went out into the city and rescued a bunch of people?

That’s why I made the Embassy idiot comment.  When military soldiers are dressed and armed for combat, there is a good reason….and it’s not to do clerical work!  For Marines to have to trust Taliban for identifying a terriost, there’s someone stupid involved….Hiden Biden.

He has ended his career with that video.  He was relieved of command.  But I think he deserves a lot of credit - I liked his line asking how many of his leadership threw their rank on the table against doing something stupid.  

It wouldn't have mattered if they did.  They would have been relieved if they had and Biden would have done whatever he wanted anyway, because there are always the yes-people like Blinken and Milley and that National Security Advisor.  According to Linsay Graham on Face the Nation this morning, Biden has a long history of ignoring advice  and making doing what he wants.  Biden is stupid and you can't change stupid.

I get your point and I agree, however, our country is not United and hasn't been for quite some time.   The Afghanistan fiasco is the closest I have seen politicians from both sides almost agree.    At least for 5 minutes.
