i never found a place to put the oil. on the outside of the motor, next to the trimmotor is a black plug with phillips threads that looks like it would be the place to add it, but just not sure. i loked on the internet and most trim motors i see have a reservoir for the oil.. im confused.... also, now my motor wil not stay trimmed up. once i do find the place to put the oil will it start working again? thanks so much for the previous answers im just not 100% sure what to do..

From your posts, this is way more than you can handle. You need to go to CAT

How old and what model is this Penta Drive?

If it's a early model there should be a fill plug being a strait slot or Philips head plug below the trim motor. This is where you add oil/

On the later models there is a cap like a regular style twist off oil cap on the pump reservoir under the trim motor

there is a phillips style plug. approx how much and will the motor be able to trim properly just by adding the oil? i think the only problem is lack of oil....

I don't understand. How high will it trim?

It should trim up to about 50 maybe 60 Deg... I have never measured the degree at full trim. You should hear it bog down when it get's to it's max. You need to fill the reservoir and cycle it up and down several times to get any air out of it. And it may jump and kick as you do this. Then add more if it needs it and cycle again till you have all the air out and the fluid dribbles out the fill point at full up. If it's leaking down over night or at all really, you need to rebuild your lift cylinders.

I am not the resident mechanic on this site and don't want to tread on his territory. You need to call CAT if your not sure what to do.
