We've had 2.9" of rain since last night on Sandy Creek and the upper watershed appears to have had more, so everyone should be prepared for the lake to rise a good bit the next few days. Just an assumption, but it appears APCo is holding back the Tallapoosa (filling Lake Martin) to allow the Coosa to go down first. Combine that with the desire for APCo to keep Thurlow 10 feet down till 3/15, and we might see Martin really jump.
Don't forget to secure boats for the possible rise. Lake bed irrigation line repairs from the freeze, and lake bed projects should be finalized.
P.S. I don't THINK I'm crying wolf--time'll tell.

Due to locally heavy rainfall, Martin has risen above normal elevation for this time of year. Expect Martin to rise near elevation 487.5 on or about 2/8/10, with potential to rise near elevation 489 by 2/12/10. Lake elevations are always subject to change, depending on conditions.

Two weeks ago I realized that my beach, for the first time in 30+ years, has no leaves...thanks to the water fluctuation. I did not have to burn. I did, however, lose(?) alot of sand, so now I am stuck with red clay and rocks. Oh well! I will survive. After all, I live at the lake.
My grandkids keep asking when the beach will be gone so they can go swimming. I will not tell them next week.

It is becoming a near certainty that the beach will be gone next week...a sad fact for those of us midway through out shoreline construction projects....and if it comes another big rain Tuesday, as forecast, things could get testy before the Spring rains are done.

If they would go ahead and fill up lake Tallassee, we would not have all of these problems. As for as the aqautic plants at that lake,if they have not died and gone by now,then it's not gonna happen.

No way you have to wait for 70 degrees, jlazc. I have seen pictures of some of your boat rides.....brrrrrrrr. Of course, some of your riders may stay home until it is warmer outside.
Since we blamed Alabama Power for the low water in '07, I am blaming them for the high water in '10. I need it to go DOWN, with no rain for awhile.

I have missed my chance to do any more cleaning, guess I will take my dog's attitude - if the water is low - enjoy the lake, if the water is high - enjoy the lake. I think Miss Maizy has the right idea....
